My darling nephew is getting married in a few weeks and has asked family members for a list of their favorite ten songs to play at the wedding.

I’m uncharacteristically drawing a blank…

Anyone care to inspire me with a few of their own?

Thanks!

You mean for guests to dance to? Or for the special dances before guests are invited onto the dance floor?

At the ceremony or reception?

If there’s going to be dancing I want “Rock Around the Clock” best dancing song ever.

I love the Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses”. I love U2’s “With or Without You” though it’s always seemed to be as much about religion as love.

My favorite love songs of all? Johnny Cash singing “Ring of Fire” and Cash and June Carter Cash on their duet “Jackson”.

“Love Shack” by the B-52’s.

Dancing Queen - ABBA

Anne Murray “Can I have this dance for the rest of our lives?”

Glen Miller “In the Mood”
Nat and Natalie Cole “Unforgettable Duet”
A little Elvis is good, too.

Shout .

What a Wonderful Life (Louis Armstrong)

My DIL’s playlist was among the most important things to her. She and S tried out every suggestion by sitting at their table and singing a few bars. If they didn’t start dancing in their seats after a bit, they scratched it off the list. Their DJ was very obnoxious about not wanting to use her playlist, claiming that whenever he got playlists from clients the dancing wasn’t any good. She insisted he use their list. She proved the DJ wrong and swears by their pre-testing system.

Our group of friends always made a point to play If You Want to be Happy for the Rest of Your Life, Never Make a Pretty Woman Your Wife. Kind of an in joke because, of course, we were all beautiful!

You’re the best thing that ever happened to me–Gladys Knight and the Pips
