My NJ public (non competitve) High School does not make the list! If I didn’t move in 3rd grade, I’d be at #39 . Sigh.

Mine moved down since two years ago. A lot.

Psh, rankings are BS. :p

Is it just me, or is every school from north jersey?

Well, yeah. North Jersey also has a lot more wealth. It’s where all the NYC commuters (business executives, etc) live.

The most over-represented counties in this list are Bergen (by far!), Morris, and Union.

By the way, the full ranking of ALL public high schools in New Jersey is available herehere. Don’t fill out either field and check “Show All Schools”.

213!!! Hell Yes!!!

Hmm cool. The school I would’ve gone to if I didn’t move is in there.

78th, actually surprised, not going to lie, though the new super is committed to making us number 1 in the state, though of course McNair is tough competition, but oh well, at least I’m done with that school :D

Interesting. The public HS in my town is in the top 50 but it’s really a horrible school. My brother is going there because he doesn’t plan on going to college but my parents won’t let my other brothers go there (or me)
It’s a really nice area but basically the only kids that go to the public school are either not interested in school at all (like my brother) or foreigners who don’t speak english

Well, they’re rankings based on objective statistics. If lots of faculty members have Master’s degrees and lots of kids graduate, it’s going to have a higher ranking, simple as that.

yeah… some (most) of those stats have a lot to do with how affluent the area is. student computer ratio ?! what does that have to do with anything

well the more technologically advanced you school the better it is. i guess.

I think the student data is old though, maybe a year or two, not this past class of 2006.

the computers could be like 10 yrs old that has nothing to do with how technologically advanced the school is… or how good it is.

Just like how the percentage of faculty with graduate degrees doesn’t effect their ability to teach high school students.

And similar arguments can be made for the SAT averages, but that’s for another day and another board.

My school (Montville) is like 30 or 40 away from Livingston, our biggest rival. The differences aren’t THAT great between us.

It is sad how North Jersey has all of the better schools then South Jersey… Our schools are all overcrowded. The sending districts are crazy, and some people have to go to private schools (such as myself) because the schools around them are not very safe. I wish more money went into South Jersey schools.
