Interesting start to the season with real cooking, not gimmicks. Is it my imagination, or do the cheftestants seem more competitive than usual at this stage?

I’m currently rooting for the North Pond Chicago chef because we had a lovely anniversary dinner there decades ago . And he seems talented - and nice.

Watched tonight. Love that they are in Canada. Yes some of the talent seems high. I see :eyes: a few egos too!

I am so excited there is a new season! And thank you @Marilyn - now I know why this season is “Destination Canada”!

Side note: I think Kristin is a fabulous host!

I love that Kristin challenges Tom at judges table. I always felt like the others always just let Tom’s opinion decide the winner.

I was going to bump this up today - thank you!

Really liking some of the challenges. The trivia quick fire was fun!

I also like Kristin though I :100: loved Padma. I wonder if Kristin has brought some of the new fresh challenges and ideas to the show.

Chef wise I don’t know that I have a stand out favorite just yet. I like the guy who did win the trivia quick fire this week. And I’m rooting for Kat who is the sister of someone I know! So much food I’d love to try and while I’m not always a Nutella lover, I’d LOVE to try her quick fire dish!

I don’t have a stand out yet either - i feel like it depends on who they highlight. So far, liking Tristan and Corwin.. And Vinny

I’ve been having trouble staying awake, to be honest! I guess I’m rooting for the guy from North Pond Chicago (Carlos, I think?) just because we had a lovely anniversary dinner there once.

I am not ok with them dumping a whole team. I especially am not ok that Corbin was the one to go! He has been a leader!

I will also say that I sometimes hate when they are forced to do so many challenges outside of a regular kitchen in these wonky set up street food fairs. Is this Top Chef Food Truck?! Even a food truck would be more well equipped!

Fun challenges last week! I liked remaking their Chipotle orders.

Not so fun was having your mis en place thrown away.

Since they were both in the bottom (the one affected and the one who threw away) I wonder if the one who threw away would have offered himself up to leave to save the other guy.

The woman who left (I do not know all their names!) seemed kind of angry. Why didn’t she tell the judges her sauce wasn’t broken, it was tofu? You gotta speak up girl!

Katiana? She did well in Last Chance Kitchen.

I wondered the same thing! Sad to see Katiana go - I thought she was very good.

Last week was a fun episode - I adore Eden the TC Canada host - she has a new cookbook coming out! She and her husband are a hoot.

Does anyone know if TC Canada is available on any streaming? I’d love to watch.

So what is everyone thinking about this season so far?

Sorry to see Cesar go - he seems such like a nice guy. I think Tristian is my favorite. He’s good but also seems like such nice guy.

I like Tristen as well. Both he and Cesar have been fun to watch because they are so creative and adventurous with their dishes. “You just put what together on that plate??? Ad you’ve never tried that dish before?!! :exploding_head:” Cesar’s results have been more hit and miss than Tristen’s though. The judges really seem to connect with his palate.

Do you watch Last Chance Kitchen?

Did you watch this past weeks show??

I think my fav is Lana and I also like the guy who won this week with his hot pot like dish - I can’t spell his name!

No way am I attached to anyone like many past seasons though. Massimo is a little too much personality for me. He leans on his personality when he is presenting a dish to the judges. Not nice to say, but I hope he doesn’t win!

I keep forgetting to watch and don’t have it set to record. Missed Restaurant Wars and last week. But I am reading the tv boards on Prime Timer so am keeping up, i.e. Cesar in particular because we once at his restaurant long before he was there. Good a reason as any! I don’t feel like I am missing much this season, to be honest.

Edit to add that I remembered I could stream Bravo TV via our Cox account on my computer. So I watched the last episode after all.

I’m going to need to catch up on this season, since I just learned that D’s dear friend Henry Lu is competing - Henry and D worked together at Pearl and Ash in NYC when she was their wine director and he was their sous chef.
