I like the twist with Top Chef Masters. I like the people on Next Fodd Network Star, but I don’t like anyone enough yet that I would DVR their show, like I do with Aarti and Jeff the Sandwich guy.

Yes, watching TCM . . . LOVED the sky-diving twist! Their reactions were priceless!!!

Hey, what happened to Tom Colicchio???

He is on Top Chef with Padma Lakshi… not on Top Chef Masters unless as a guest judge. Curtis Stone is the host here with Gail Simmons of Food & Wine magazine.

And “Unibrow” ( Hugh Acheson) is the host on the web show, “Battle of the Sous Chefs”.

His recaps are hilarious!

Didn’t know that Masters started. Like regular TC better, but…

Have been watching FNS -hoping its Stacey for the win. Like the idea of old food (vintage) in a new way. I think it’s cool she has her own diner!!

Stacy is my favorite, but I think they will cut her for being polished. I think she is both likable and credible.

I thought the first Masters of the new season was confusing at first. But the parachuting was funny–we were cracking up when the woman who was afraid of heights was narrating. I’m glad Brian V’s carrot/veggie dish was praised. I’m glad Padma isn’t involved with this franchise of TC.

On FNS, I like Nicki.

I do like Nicki too - she has really stepped it up. Meat “on the side” really describes the way I like to eat!

Does anyone watch Masterchef? I really enjoy that show. Gordon Ramsey with slightly less “potty mouth” than his other shows.

I like Next Food Network Star but I still don’t know who I’m rooting for, but I like the girls better than the guys for sure. They had some wacky ones.

I watch the first shows of a season of Top Chef Masters and then lose interest because it lacks personal drama. They’re all good chefs. One makes a mistake here and another there but there’s none of the personal growth narrative.

I’ve caught Masterchef once or twice and really enjoyed it, but cant seem to find it when I want to. It gets a lot of buzz on Chowhound. Now that you mention it, I’m going to have to make a more concerted effort.

I LOVE MasterChef - one of my favorite shows! But finding it each year is always a challenge . . .

I watch all of them. I don’t really have a favorite on FNS, but my LEAST favorite is Stacy. She just seems phony to me.

LOVE TCM…

The Masterchef I found with all the screaming and explicatives is NOT the one I like. I think the one I’ m looking for is called “Master Chef UK, The Professionals” on BBC-America.

I’m watching FNS, and I agree about Stacy, azcatz. I think, though, that she and Nikki are the only credible contestants left, so I have a feeling it’ll be one of them. This year’s crop just didn’t seem as good as years past.

I like Nikki’s “meat on the side” POV. It’s clear and it’s appealing. I’m not really sure what Stacy’s “vintage with a modern twist” – or is it “modern with a vintage twist”? – is.

I finally got back into the Food Network Star show- it didn’t grab me earlier in the season. Last night’s show was worth watching for the critiques alone. I understand better why chefs make/don’t make the cut. Some lack adaptability (no spoiler alert, I’m avoiding specifics). As they pointed out, the star is someone you, or others, want to watch, not just the person with the good point of view or cooking ability. Some winners are never seen in prime time. Some of the better shows are never in the contest.

For some reason, Stacy reminds me of Ellie Kreiger (when she used to have her shoe on FN). I do think that this is one of the more boring seasons, with no real standouts as with some seasons there are a number of people that you feel would be a good host.

last year Alton 2.0 won, and we did not see much of him (but Jeff Mauro is still making sandwiches)

Huh??? You sure you’re not thinking of “Hell’s Kitchen”?
