Top Chef (Texas) and/or Next Iron Chef....

I’m on pins & needles. If Paul’s first course had been served to second set of judges, well the

Yes just wow

such an awful day for my Bgf, but at keast this good news

Very happy Paul won! I liked Sarah, but felt Paul was great throughout.

I am glad he won too. I do feel that he deserved if you look back through the entire season.

I felt sorry for Sarah too, but let’s be honest, this a.m. both chefs are receiving calls from people across the restaurant world with exciting opportunities ahead.

Look at Carla and Fabio, neither won, but their careers took off because of Top Chef.

The twins last yr., or was it 2 yrs ago now sell Samsung appliances.

The one that I wonder about for the future is Ed and Big Ed (I think that was his name, he owns a restaurant in NC and you got to know him from Last Chance, plus he was Paul’s sous chef).

I think both have the personality to have their own foody show on tv.

Was I the only one that noticed Ed was at Paul’s restaurant and none of the other contestants like Chris, Bev, Lindsay were anywhere to be found. Traditionally, they bring at least the last 2 back to either be guests, or sous chefs. Could it be they were asked by Paul and Sarah not to be there for either reasons?

Did you also feel for the Master Chef that wasn’t selected? I bet Sarah was the one really upset because she chose the guy who was the 1st sent home!

Yes! Paul won!
I saw Ed and I actually thought I saw Bev, too.

I was thrilled that Paul won. He really deserved it. I didn’t feel badly for Sarah at all. I didn’t think she deserved to be there to begin with (although SHE clearly felt she deserved it all, even the win! So ungracious).
Bev was definitely on the show last night eating the dinners. I didn’t see Lindsey though.
I loved Carla and Fabio. They seemed to have great personalities. I love Carla on The Chew now. I think Sarah is mean and a b…ch. Somehow I don’t see her having the same opportunities post-Top Chef based on her personality. Comments on facebook’s Top Chef site overwhelmingly seem to agree with me.

Okay, what’s next?

Next week there’s the season reunion.

Heather, Lindsay and Sarah all bullied Bev. And during “restaurant wars” Lindsay was the weakest on her team, very poor front of the house, mia, etc. because she was spending too much time criticizing Bev. Bev is probably better than all three of them. She won last chance kitchen and it could easily have been her instead of Sarah at the end to face off Paul. Should be interesting to hear what the three of them say to her next week. I’m sure there has been internet response to the bullying

Okay. But Top Chef Masters, or Top Chef Just Deserts usually comes soon…checked the Bravo site. nothing in the works until the Chef Cat Cora thing in May.

http://www.bravotv.com/around-the-world-in-80-plates/season-1/about

Bravo Paul! Well, well deserved!!! I too thought that Sara wasn’t a very gracious 2nd place finisher. Paul had a really strong team with him cooking on that finale.

If I. We’re Lindsay I don’t know if I would want to be there. I think she deserved the spot over Sara. I’m guessing being there so soon might have been pretty painful,

Wow overall Paul pulled in a haul! How sweet was his dad!?

Paul was a very gracious winner and his and his family’s reactions were very touching. He handled himself very well thoughout the competition. I think there was a bit of karma for Paul, Sarah, Lindsay, Heather and Bev, the Last Chance winner. Although, I do think Sarah gave Paul a run for his money at the end. I do think it was as close as the judges said it was.

I like Masters, but I don’t care for Desserts so if they are the next series I will be skipping it until Masters comes on.

I can’t wait to see the reunion because you know there will be the discussion of Bev being bullied. Sarah and Lindsay will team up together and swear they didn’t, but they need to admit that is how the majority of viewers saw their behavior.

In the end what they will be remembered for is not their dishes, but the bullying.

I got the impression from the Bravo late night show that Bev and Sarah reconcile, which would be the smart thing for Sarah to do. One of the promos shows Heather saying she does not owe Bev an apology. Anyone watching the season can see that Heather, Lindsay and Sarah did bully Bev. Bev came across as having a bit of a weak personality, was a bit scattered in the kitchen and they pounced on her. Add to that she was a great chef and kicked occasional butt. She became a threat and a target.

When my d was in grade school, one of her classmates was a tiny little thing with the face of an angel. Blond, blue-eyed, gorgeous. And she knew it. She would push every button she could think of, even going as far as hitting other kids and taking their stuff. And when the other kid finally had enough and hit back, she turned on her angelic big-eyed face to the teachers and got away with it. She was a little terror.

As I was watching this season, I saw her in Bev. I guess I must have been watching a different season, because other than Heather, I saw a lot less bullying going on that you guys did. I saw a conniving, self-absorbed, self-centered competitor who would turn on the waterworks any time things didn’t go exactly her way. Now, I do think Heather was out of line during that one judging, but Bev just cried.

I also think that Bev purposely overcooked Lindsay’s fish dish during restaurant wars, and finally pushed Lindsay over the edge.

I have no sympathy for Bev.

We enjoy “TC Desserts” too. We usually dvr it and watch it at our leisure (as opposed to the more popular top chef which is harder to avoid spoilers). D and I both “crushed” on Yigit a couple seasons ago.

Yeah it’s really about the food but he was SO darn cute!

I think Bev could have been annoying in the kitchen. Although, I don’t think it was intentional. She is the chef equivalent of the absent-minded professor. I think the better chefs were not effected by her in the kitchen, did not allow themselves to be, as skilled professionals. I also think it is difficult if not impossible to know someone’s intent. I think Lindsay was truly in the wrong during restaurant wars and should have focused on front of the house. Did Lindsay have immunity? If not, and if they had lost, Lindsay would have gone home at that point. It was clear. Bev did great that challenge despite Lindsay’s criticisms and if she wasn’t happy with Bev, she should have had someone else cook her fish. That’s not what would have sent her home; it would have been her poor service up front. I don’t think Bev intentionally overcooked the fish.

Watching the reunion; Paul’s takings:

$185 thousand… and a trip to Costa Rica…and a Prius…

Chedva, just read your post and caught myself shaking my head. Most of the time, what I saw of Bev was someone who didn’t manage her space well, did not respect her fellow chefs, and didn’t act with the same speed adn level of professional skills. I feel the editing changed a bit when they saw how attractive she could be as a victim.

There was one moment when Lindsay was criticizing her for using a plastic spoon and I was screaming at the television. Of course she shouldn’t have been using a plastic spoon!!! I noticed the night she went home she was using a tinly little plastic spoon again. to me that just showed bad training.

I live near Chicago, so I will check out both Bev and Sarah’s kitchens.

Happy Paul won though. Who won fan favorite? They didn’t announce it on the reunion show.

DH is watching the Anthony Bourdain No Reservations titled “Heartland”. Paul and his food truck is featured!

Still watching…“Work ethic comment”, then “plenty of mean to go around”…Gralyn and …“a force to be reckoned with…”. Loving Kevin’s “fart in the air”. Loving Michelle O and “Let’s Move”.

They did announce fan favorite on the reunion show. It was Malibu and they said he campaigned for it, too.

Well, Bev sure won a lot, not to mention winning “Last Chance Kitchen”, for some one with a poor work ethnic. Ha ha.

If the women had lost Restaurant Wars, Lindsay would have gone home (that is if she didn’t have immunity - not sure) Bev’s plastic spoon or not. Bev won that one. Judges could not taste the plastic spoon, but they noticed Lindsay’s poor service. She should have been concerned with front of house not with what the chef who ended up winning that competition was doing! And such sour grapes from Lindsay and Sarah after that win! They were clueless, saying how great Lindsay was, after Bev had won.
