Towel suggestions, anyone?

When we got married we bought Fieldcrest Royal Velvet towels that are now beyond shabby and need to be replaced. Bed Bath and Beyond calls their version of these “Duet” and they’re super soft but not absorbent… its not worth drying off with them! Do any of you have a favorite towel brand that’s soft and absorbent?

Department stores should all have sales now. Check out Bloomingdale’s store brand–and treat yourself to bath sheets instead of the skimpier bath towel.

Amen to that. I don’t understand the point of fabric softener, actually. Can someone explain to me why people use it?

I’ve been very pleased with the “bath sheets” from Costco. Our old towels were the old Royal Velvets, too.

We recently replaced ours with the top price ones at Kohls. Very happy with them and on sale they were very cheap.

dmd77- Thanks for the Garnet Hill suggestion, I need a couple new sets, decided to try them and just placed an order. If you google “garnet hill coupon orders” there’s a coupon for $10.00 off.

Remember the old moniker, “Turkish Towel?”

I found that at Home Goods, the towels made in Turkey are really thick, really absorbent and hold up quite well.

Target has an excellent line of towels that I have purchased several times. The line is called Thomas O’Brien. It has nice colors and matching rugs and bath mats in all cotton.

I am very picky about towels and bathroom rugs and I have been very pleased with these.

on a related towel recommendation…for students who hang towels in their crowded dorm rooms and then find them damp when they come back for a second shower of the day after intramurals or whatever–My son and his roomie really loved the Bath Sheet sized microfiber towels. Their room never seemed to dry towels for some reason and although Bath Sheets of microfiber (like we buy for drying hair in turbans or to pick up spills), are not as nice to the touch…they dry quickly and absorb water fast. These towels have their place…on campouts, backpacking, sports…where you need a towel that dries quickly.

Somehow I ened up with two big, soft bath towels made by Columbia Sportswear (I think D swapped hers with someone during a camping trip). These towels are much better than the Costco bath sheets or pricey “hotel” lines from department stores! Very absorbent and soft!

TBH, I love the K-Mart brand. Their towels are very reasonably priced. They’re also super light, so they don’t beat up the washing machine (top loading).

I used to like Fieldcrest Royal Velvet too. We have switched to Ralph Lauren–the bath sheets are a good size without being overwhelming, and department stores around here often have various Ralph Lauren towels on sale at relatively reasonable prices. We have found them quite absorbent; I like them becaue they are teh same texture on both sides. Another possibility: the very heavy ones from Restoration Hardware. Although they are too heavy for my taste, my husband likes them.

I have found the Kohl’s Luxury Collection to be generously sized, super absorbant and well wearing through numerous washes, and very reasonably priced (always on sale and then I use my additional discounts which they always do). Just a reminder that fabric softener significantly diminishes absorbancy and should never be used on towels.

Bamboo!

I got mine through Cuddledown and I love them. Extremely absorbant and soft.

Makes things softer and reduces static. I coudln’t live without it. Even on towels and they absorb just fine.

I only use it in the dryer, never in the washer. Without it, my clothes would be so “static-ky” and covered in hair and the like.

I hate my new bamboo towels. They are not absorbant or colorfast.

I assumed they were cotton when I bought them so be sure to read the label.

These are great suggestions…I ordered a couple of Garnett Hill towels but will keep the Kohl’s in mind as we have one nearby…thanks!!

I like the $2.50 Target towels. :)
