Track vs. Lab Research Extra Curricular

Hi there,
I’m currently a sophmore that does three seasons of sports. In the spring, I usually do track, and do decently at it (Varsity letter, top 10 on the distance squad). However, I’m not going to set a state record, nor am I likely to attain captainship when I’m a senior.

My mother is suggesting that I instead do lab research during the track season only–My father is a professer at a big-name University and has several associates that are willing to work with me if I decide to volunteer there.

The dilema–which do I ‘choose’ for College admissions and why? I love both (about) equally and will dedicate the same amount of time for each one.

Thanks,
RB26
