Trader Joe's Top 10

I’ll third the Island Soyaki. We pour it over salmon and grill it. Delicious! Other favorites of mine (I shop TJ almost every day):
Ahi Tuna (marinated and flash frozen. So good and CHEAP!)
Aioli Mustard
Fresh Pizza Dough
Gnochi (in the pasta section, vacuum packed and just as good as my homemade)
Dark Chocolate Covered Pretzels (sinfully good)
Honey Wheat Pretzel Sticks (less sinful, still good)
Middle Eastern Flatbreads (I put some lunchmeat and cheese on it, fold it over, brown it up in a frying pan and it tastes just like a lower fat panini)
Vanilla nonfat Yogurt (best brand I’ve tried)

This thread is making me hungry! I’ve got lots of new ideas. Thanks!

My family loves a stirfry sauce that’s two parts Soyaki, one part Iron Chef Sesame Garlic (adds just a little punch).

Way to rub it in, Tulare!

~mafool, who has no TJ within 150 miles

So sorry! That was rude, wasn’t it? I’m sure you have some fabulous store I don’t though. ;)

I just bought Apple Smoked Garlic Cheddar Cheese. The cashier raved about it. Also Korma Simmer Sauce which I think someone about 100 posts ago said had been discontinued. I like to simmer a can of chick peas in about 1/2 jar. Triple Ginger Cookies were my indulgence…I think they’re a little kinder to the waistline than Pound Plus Belgian Chocolate.

Let us know how the cheese is!!! ^^^

Irish Cheddar Cheese w/ Chives
Naan, as it is so moist and fresh
Flatbread comes close, though
Chutneys of all kinds
2 buck Chuck line- for cooking only
Dark chocolate covered caramel
TJ’s brand Ice cream (Super Premium, really good!)
Dried Mangos
Ginormous garlic
Smoked Salmon

Almost anything you can buy there is good.

AND OMG, U.F.O’S !

Pound Plus is a fantastic deal on chocolate for baking and eating purposes.

Joe’s Os - cheerios, but ten times better
AND
Joe Joes - Oreos, but three thousand times better, for you and your tastebuds

^^^ U.F.O’s???

Just had some of their samosas. Nice and piping hot–delicious!

U.F.Os- if you haven’t tried them and you like mint, you’ll die in deliciousness.

I personally have a mint addiction.

They are dark chocolate “saucers” with mint flavoring. I know people that abhor mint and loved these- don’t ask, don’t tell…right? Anyhow, I made brownies the other day and put UFOs in. (PS, I’ve never used anything prepared cooking, so this was practically equivalent to using a mix- BIG NO NO) Needless to say, they were incredible.

I don’t go to Trader Joes alot, even though they have finally opened one in my neighborhood ( I keep forgetting)

However- I am thrilled there is a Trader Joes down the street from our hotel in San Francisco, we can save lots of money by getting stuff there for meals- even though we don’t have a fridge ( I am bringing a small cooler)

They have GREAT deals on meals for two to four people, and so often they’re so good. I’m thinking that maybe they are a drug front- how can they make money at such low prices and stay afloat? I know they say they eliminate the middleman, but its gotta be more than that…

Retail markup is quite high in general- more so for packaged foods- what I usually get at Trader Joes is frozen- veggie mixes- stuff I doctor by adding my own protein, or things like the frozen tamales.

[Who Makes Trader Joe’s Food? : Hint: It’s not Trader Joe’s! - CHOW](<a href=“Foodie - Live a Delicious Life: Kitchen Tips, Culinary History, Restaurant Recs”>Foodie - Live a Delicious Life: Kitchen Tips, Culinary History, Restaurant Recs)

Thanks for the tip on UFOs alexandrafitzmor. I picked up a package today and had to hide them so I wouldn’t finish off the whole bag! They were especially tasty dropped into a dollop or two of TJ’s vanilla yogurt. I’ll try them in cookies soon!

^^abasket asked how we liked the apple smoked garlic cheddar cheese. It was very garlicky so there didn’t seem to be any apple or smoke flavor. Good though.

I have forgotten to mention TJ’s dried, salted green beans. Found in the chips section and VERY good. They really tasted like green beans but snacklike and crunchy.

^^^Thanks on the cheese report!!!

We picked up a box of crackers in the new products section on Saturday. My son describes them as an everything bagel in cracker form. They are inexpensive, low fat/calories and have onion, garlic, poppy seeds and some other stuff. The open box did not last very long.

Gorgonzola cheese crackers are delicious and I don’t like cheese crackers or gorgonzola. This is very special, I thought. Also bought a beautiful bunch of sunflowers for $4.99 that are sitting on my kitchen table. A sparser bunch was selling for $7.99 at the farmer’s market this past weekend. I’m glad I did not buy those.

My kids love the frozen garlic chicken meal, and we enjoyed the lava chocolate pastries last night, hot out of the oven with ice cold milk on the side. I also bought some of their vitamins and supplements. Cheaper than Mrs Green’s.

I wanted to pick up the UFOs but my mind drew a blank when I got there. Didn’t even remember what they were, much less the name. Getting old. That’ll be for the next trip.
