Transfer consideration to multiple schools

Hello, I’m currently a NVCC student who falls under the guaranteed admission agreement. What I actually would like to study is commerce. I understand that if you apply to Mcintire, your application is usually not considered for the college of a&s. In what cases would an admissions officer consider a transfer application for multiple schools? As an in-state student UVA is where I want to go. Although I have a good chance at Mcintire, is it worth risking not going to UVA at all?

Thanks

I believe the reason why it is only 1 school is that being a transfer you really have to know what you want to do exactly and have the prereqs done in order to be successful at attaining a degree at UVA in the remaining 4 semesters. For you though you would be successful in either commerce or a&s. I guess you have to decide if you want to study commerce enough to go somewhere else to do it if UVA is not right for you, or if you want to go to UVA for sure and study econ through a&s.

I will have fulfilled prereqs for both schools by the end of spring semester. I guess my question was; has anyone ever been considered to multiple schools as a transfer applicant? I know it has been done but only on special occasions. Thanks for the response Hazel, it will definitely help my decision.

I believe they’ve been trying to phase that out (I vaguely remember seeing it on the UVA transfer blog some years back, but I could be misremembering). I would shift your focus from whether you will get a special permission to whether you are willing to risk not attending UVA if you choose to apply to McIntire.
