This spring I am applying to transfer to UVa. I’m currently taking Pre-Calc (have math anxiety, so I’ve avoided maths). I was planning on taking Applied Calculus I over the summer to strengthen my application but I’m already struggling with Pre-Calc so I’m having second thoughts of taking it at NVCC at all. Should I take the risk? If accepted, will they rescind the acceptance if I get a C in either Pre-Calc or Applied Calc [if taken]? (I currently have A’s and B’s)

I’d definitely consider taking Calculus I. Keep in mind that Calculus is much different than the previous math courses you’ve taken–Calculus I in particular is probably on the easier side of math courses.

That said, it depends on what sort of major you want to go into. If you dislike math and are going into a liberal arts major then there’s not a pressing reason to take a math course.

You won’t have your admission rescinded because of one C.
