My D24 is waitlisted at Cal Poly SLO (not holding her breath as we know odds are really low), now shifting gears to maximizing chance to TRANSFER there for junior year Fall 2026. Does anyone know if coming from a CC or a different CSU is better? Are there statistics on this? Do any of you forum champions have insight or experience with this?
California community college to CSU is better in terms of articulating the required transfer courses via assist.org.
CSU to CSU transfers do not have specific articulation agreements so the student needs to use the assist.org and the SLO website requirements and try to match them to the current CSU course’s.
CCC to SLO transfer is much more straightforward and if the student attends a CCC in the local SLO admission area, they get transfer priority. Not a guarantee but it helps.

She can get a lot of the feel and experience by going to Cuesta, if you and she are willing to pay for housing away from home. It’s their top feeder CC.
