I’m enrolled into CSUB as a incoming freshman, I was accepted to UCSC, UCR, SJSU, SDSU as a senior in highschool but due to family issues I have to attend the local CSU, I was wondering if I could transfer out to a private such as UOP, USF or UC like UCR, UCSC or UCD out of my Local CSU?
Just get good grades and you can transfer. You might be better served by going to the local community college instead of CSUB if you are certain you want to transfer.
Yes, UCs give priority to CC students although it isn’t impossible to transfer from a CSU. Read and ask here http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/
Yes you can. You just apply like any other Jr transfer. Take the time now to map your courses against the TAG framework to ensure you are taking the right classes. You’ll want a GPA that’s at least ‘average’ for the schools you are applying for. For most majors at UCR, plan for a 3.2+ UCSC, 3.3 and UCD closer to a 3.5. For more competitive majors (like CS), add .2 to .3 to be safe.
UOP and USF operate by their own rules and don’t see a ton of inbound transfer applications. I wouldn’t expect much financial aid as, it tends to be targeted towards freshmen.
Transferring to another CSU, like Long Beach or Cal Poly Pomona may also be worth exploring.
