I just watched this series and considered mentioning it in the Caitlyn Jenner thread, but figured it would be off-topic there. I wonder if anyone else here watched it and cares to discuss. I liked it a lot and I think it gave me insight into the phenomenon much better than seeing Bruce Jenner → Caitlyn Jenner interviewed on TV and in her new photoshoot. On the other hand, of course it’s fiction and Jeffrey Tambor, who plays the transitioning 70-year-old, is not transgender himself. Jill Soloway, who created the series, has a father who is transitioning and I read that there were many transgender people in the cast and behind the scenes to keep it real (or as real as possible considering that it’s not). Aside from the central issue of the transitioning Mort → Maura, it’s the story of his/her family (three grown children and ex-wife), which is an interesting family indeed.
The series is available for streaming on Amazon, free to Amazon Prime subscribers. It was released in September and October and has ten 30-minute episodes.
