I finally got to watch last week’s Golden. I have to say, I really enjoyed it. I appreciate that they took the first few minutes to deal with Mel’s age comment and I think he paid the price and we should move on from that. If anything, I think this cast is going to show him “don’t snooze on over 60!”
The women cast are wow a very vibrant bunch. I’m cool with that showcasing even though not all women 60+ look or can be as active as them.
I see a couple of early favs for him - and I also see an annoying contestant in Nicolle(?) the one who was throwing herself at him and also Pat just needs to take it down a notch (the former law enforcement) or she is just used to being in charge or something.
My biggest question is - why all the long, long hair?! One woman with short hair and she didn’t last (to be fair, her personality was not a match) I feel like long long hair is not the norm for the majority of women over 60? Must have been a sale on extensions!!!
I’m hoping for a fun season. And I never take it too seriously.
Remember, he said no wigs. I guess extensions must be okay.
I also watched it over several nights this weekend. Mel isn’t a spring chicken. He isn’t nearly as agile as some of those women are. And he doesn’t appear to be as articulate either.
His divorce is relatively fresh and we don’t know the details or if there are areas where he is disputing the settlement. For example, if he is living in the house with his children, maybe the agreement was that he could keep it until the last graduated HS. She may be demanding he sell it to pay her, but the agreement may say that he has until the youngest is 18. If his net worth is in the 2-5 million range, $800K isn’t unheard of.
On a side note, the house value in that article is lower than what I would have estimated for the area. Shoot, I live in an average 1500 sq ft track home and it is worth close to $2M.
Not defending him but what timing to ask for the cash 5 years post divorce and now that he is in tv…. I’ll wait judgment for more info
Dude played football for a lot of years. No surgery or PT can fix the abuse on one’s body over those years. He might not move fast but he doesn’t look slouchy!
I mentioned it because he initially said he wanted someone younger. They packed the house with very fit women. Diane (the one with short hair) has won three triathlons.
I noticed this - also an odd cadence to his vocalization. There’s an odd pause at odd times, almost like he’s taking a deep breath.
Also, I need to say 2 things…1. extensions on older (and younger) women are never a good idea. They just never look natural - ever. 2. I cannot stand women (of any age) who try too hard! Overly flirty, and over the top - just no. Ever.
