Too bad. I’m going to check them too!
I own a pair. Haven’t worn them for travel yet, though. They are very flattering.
I ordered them for our recent trip to Europe, but they didn’t get here in time. If you don’t want the ankle length, they come in long. I decided I didn’t like them enough to wear often around home, but I did think about keeping them.
I do like pant pocket with zipper. My travel pants are Clara Sun Woo from a few years back, black / basic with elastic waist, soft fabric. (I don’t see anything similar on webite now). Recently I added a snap to the pocket, though on an airplane I don’t carry much in pant pocket. They are compact, so if needed for space reasons I could have worn my black jeans on the flight home…. but the others are much more comfy.
I have also added snaps and magnetic fastenings to travel clothing to make it more comfortable and suit my needs better. My scarves got snagged on velcro of jackets so I removed and replaced with magnetic fasteners and eliminated the problem. Snaps do help me have more secure pockets. (I do prefer black snaps so they disappear in dark clothing—silver and white are too bright.)
Do you have any magnetic fasteners to recommend? (I tried an online search last month, without finding anything that grabbed me.)
In my grandmother’s old sewing stuff I did find snaps that I added to shorts pockets. Yes to liking black snaps… found some black ones in the assortment and used on my travel pants. I’m not much of a seamstress, so getting the snap halves aligned was a bit tricky.
I’m a big fan of puffer jackets and own several. My two Eddie Bauer ones were from Costco a number of years ago. The are upper thigh length and have dual zippers (so you can open from the bottom for better walking and sitting). I have a couple of Uniqlo short puffers which I find myself not wearing very much.
We have a couple of cold weather trips coming up and I just received this … It says it is water resistant (which my other puffers are most definitely not). This also has the dual zippers, longer than my other jackets and a bit more flattering. Since all the other jackets are in basic grey or blue…I’m debating returning this grey one and going out of my comfort zone and getting it in red.

I know I say this all the time but if you have a Sierra Trading Post near you this time of year they are usually fully stocked with a myriad of puffy coats, many styles, many brands, many price points.
Last year I got an llbean knee length puffy (heavier weight) hooded coat for $89 and it does its job keeping me warm for the coldest days of pup walks!
I live in a cold weather place so wear a winter coat all winter long.
I invested in the Kuhl version of that jacket 3 years ago. It’s very very similar. I love the puffer stitching as I find it very slimming.
Mine is quite warm and layer able. I like a coat that covers my behind. The year before I bought that coat, mine was shorter. I found the longer length was preferable and warmer.
I love the way red photographs. Pops in pictures.
I’m currently in Provence, on week 5 of 7 of a European holiday.
My clothing has been limited because, well, 7 weeks.
Uniqlo light down jacket that I bought for last December’s Christmas market trip, coupled with a longer rain jacket has been ideal. The puffer jacket compresses into its little bag and is there if I need it.
My shoes: Munro Chelsea boots, NB 780 running shoes, and Rothy’s pointy-toed sling backs (whch work surprisingly well on cobblestones). All work in rain, sun, clouds. My daughters have Birkenstocks and Blundstones. The husband has Brooks and Rockports.
Lightweight Marino wool pullovers and a cardigan layer well with lighter tee shirts.
A pair of lightweight jeans, merino wool knit, trousers, black and white check trousers, and some Costco travel pants round things out.
I have to say, though, that I’ll be happy to get back to a bigger variety.
I remove magnetic fasteners from all boxes that we get items in (like apple products & similar). I repurpose them and use them in sewing. It’s not as difficult as it sounds, just remove them from the cardboard/paper and then sew around the metal disk that contains the magnet. I just decided on my own to do it and started exploring these boxes that “magically” close and find the magnetic fasteners in them that I could remove and re-purpose.

This is a new base layer I bought from Kohls for the London trip, long sleeved Tek Gear Dry Tek in black. (Also had ordered some more expensive Cuddle Duds to try, but I preferred this one which was on sale for $14.99. Thumb holes are handy when chilly, but they can be tucked under. ) Wore it a lot, including under a 3/4 sleeved black Clara Sun Woo thin dressy jacket, with scarf and/or short sleeved dressy-ish top.
I like to wear a lightweight long sleeve over my gym tank, do you think this top would work. I want it loose so would you suggest sizing up. Presently I use a few tops I got at Lululemon about 8 years ago. They don’t make anything similar right now.
I think it would work. (If not Kohls is great on returns.).
The small was pretty roomy on me, with sleeves longer than I’d like for my short arms. For clothing I typically wear S or sometimes XS. For athletic tops / bras surprisingly I sometimes need M or even L (even though I’m only 36A). So I would say sizing on this is more like usual clothing, not skimpy like some brands of atheleticwear.
fyi - I also tried this one (no thumb holes, not DryTek). Sizing about same.
I like the thumb holes. Of course they want me to spend $49 to get free shipping. I don’t have a Kohl’s nearby.
Yea, Kohls usually makes sense only if you have a store nearby. Then ship-to-store option (if not in stock) is often free. And returns are easy,
Does anyone have any experience with merino wool travel clothing? It’s supposed to be lightweight, stay clean, and won’t hold odors. One brand has a dress that advertises you can wear it for 100 days without washing.
