Trying to Narrow Down College Search

Hi,

Can anyone tell me colleges that have the following:

 1. travel opportunities that are paid for by the college
 2. strong IR or bio major (preferably in neuroscience)
 3. accessible professors
 4. proximity to a big city (for internship purposes)
 5. at least one season that’s warm

Thanks. :)

Rhodes College in Memphis fits pretty well.
1. There are a rediculous number of study abroad opportunities, some where financial aid can be applied and some with financial aid that can be applied for. They do a good job of making sure you don’t fail to go abroad because of money.
 2. Very good international studies and biology departments and a neuroscience interdisciplinary major.
 3. It’s a SLAC and does very well in that regard. Good marks on NSSE for student-faculty interaction.
 4. In the heart of Memphis, TN with a lot of internship opportunities.
 5. We have four distinct seasons: Almost Summer, Summer, Was Just Summer, and Rainy. ;-)

lynx, thanks for the info. DS just had an overnight athletic visit to Rhodes Sunday through yesterday. He sat in on a biology class and was VERY enthusiastic about it. He liked the professor and his approach, and even got to talk to him for awhile afterwards. I think he would be very happy at that school.

Ha, the weather would be just the opposite of Maine: Almost Winter, Winter, Was Just Winter, and Fourth of July.

As for needing the school to pay for your travel abroad experiences…

Are you low-income? I don’t know of any schools that just give students money for travel IF THEIR PARENTS have a decent income. Usually, such money if for the needy students.

Saint Mary’s College of California : Moraga CA
