Tuition Exchange and ED

My son really loves Lafayette. He visited this summer, he is there now for engineer’s day and he met with the Lafayette representative that came to his school. Lafayette is his first choice and we want him to apply ED, however he is eligible for the tuition exchange scholarship and we understand that that tuition exchange will not be awarded until the spring. Is this correct and is there any way to obtain a commitment for tuition exchange with an ED application.

acmmom,

I would not hesitate to direct this very important question to the Office of Financial Aid. Either call the office 9am-5pm Mon-Fri at 610-330-5055 or send an email to financialaid@lafayette.edu.

For what it’s worth, here’s what the website has to say about Tuition Exchange:

<<< Qualified dependent children of Faculty and Staff members are eligible for tuition exchange benefits after the Faculty/Staff member has completed 5 years of uninterrupted full-time service. This reciprocal scholarship program allows dependent children to attend school at over 500 participating higher education institutions managed by the national Tuition Exchange Headquarters in Washington, DC.

Eligibility for tuition exchange does not guarantee acceptance into the program.

Visiting Faculty, Interns, and their children, are not eligible for tuition exchange benefits. >>>

Thanks Justin. I just sent an email to the financial aid department. My son just called from the car and he is sure that Lafayette is the one.

I’m interested in any response you get for that. I’m also hoping I’ll get the scholarship, but next year. I really like Bucknell and Lafayette and I would consider applying ED to either if it made my chances better at getting the scholarship and going there, because I’m paranoid that I won’t get the scholarship at any of my choices.

I was told that tuition exchange decisions will not be made until around April. There are very few tuition exchange grants available
