Tuition Exchange for Fall 2024 (Class of 2028)

It has been a bit quiet in here lately. Has everyone made their decisions yet? Struggling to make a decision?

My D declined all the schools TE’s that we aren’t considering any longer. We have two left and unfortunately her top choice is one where we are still on a TE waitlist. To make it worse they haven’t sent FAFSA either. My thought is if the FAFSA made it reasonable we might accept without knowing TE. Then next year we could apply for TE again to receive as a sophomore.

Feeling pretty anxious about making a decision

Still undecided here. D24 is really struggling with the decision, which I suppose is a good problem to have (two options that both seem great for different reasons). She informed me last night that she’s not going to share her decision until she absolutely has to, “in case she changes her mind.” I would love to release one of the two TE offers she has for someone else to receive, but she’s just not ready to close the door on either choice just yet.

Is there a certain date they need to know by, like May 1st? If so she will be deciding pretty soon

Best of luck to her in her decision.

Yes, May 1 for both, though we have set an internal deadline of 4/25. Just a few more days…

No change here… D is willing to attend an Open House this Saturday. We’ll see if anything comes out of that. Looking forward to seeing what decisions all our kids make. Keep sharing your stories  I’ve gotten used to checking in here frequently and may have a hard time letting go

Also waiting for results from two TE waiting lists. Declined the schools where he knows he won’t go. Hoping for a miracle in the next two weeks!

Still undecided. Ready to throw back three TE offers at this point, leaving it down to maybe three or four non-TE choices by the weekend. At a visit now where kids are committing left and right, but I don’t know if D24 will be one of them. I think we’ve still got a week to go.

My daughter declined all of her TE awards and committed to a university that offered her a full ride with summer support and programming. Too good of an offer to pass up. Although she struggled to let go of the USC TE, she knows it was the right decision. I am very relieved this is all over! And very grateful!

We had a wonderful visit to Pitt last weekend. Attended the Honors College and academic sessions. Ultimately, S24 decided to take another option yesterday and we declined the TE offer today.

Congratulations to your student! My oldest daughter received TE at Seton Hall and is graduating next month. She had a wonderful experience there and I will be forever grateful for the scholarship. The school was not my daughter’s first choice either, but she took a risk and left Michigan to go there. She got a fantastic education, finished with a double major in 3 1/2 years and got into every grad school she applied to. She loved the college community and being so close to NYC.

Thankful to report my daughter’s journey is over with TE. She is my second, and last, child to go through the process. She accepted TE at Butler, and declined at Univ of Scranton, Seton Hall, and Kalamazoo. Still waiting on a couple others but pretty sure she will stick with Butler–it was her first choice.

My oldest daughter used TE at Seton Hall and had a wonderful experience there. I cannot say enough good things about the school. If your child received an offer there, it is definitely worth considering!

No decision yet here- S24 will be visiting GWU on Monday. Hoping we’ll know by the end of next week.

S24 has declined everything except 1 waitlist school that is his top choice. If that does not work, he will attend our home institution with tuition remission. This has been a rough journey!

This is awesome! Sounds like a great offer

It really has been a rough journey. The FAFSA on top of everything else is almost too much!

Question I am curious about, for everyone that participated in TE this year – does your school (so, the export school) place any internal restrictions on who may use the TE applications? For example, based on years of employment, internal lottery, and such?

We (export school) used to be a lottery based on years of service. Last year while touring schools they changed it. There were some “hoops” like an early deadline (imo) but we were ready for it because we had heard from others. Thankful for the TE. Our S27 will most likely attend our home school but that’s coming from a freshman boys mouth :woman_shrugging:t3:

Good luck on the WL! If all goes well, we will need a new category for our spreadsheet. Something like “Accepted off TE Waitlist” @trackmom2024.

I am hopeful to start seeing some movement. I wonder if schools tend to extend extra offers knowing not everyone will accept. I’d think this is the case for schools with no WL. Others may be a 1-1??

At my institution, you must have 3 years of employment before TE becomes available (to anyone - no lottery). Limited to 10 school applications.
