Very sorry to hear that. You are right it is very stressful.
Will your student go to the chosen school anyway?

Yes, it is an excellent fit for her. We just need to figure out how to pay for it! LOL
Iām sorry to hear. I hope the school allows your student to apply in subsequent years (some schools do prioritize awarding existing students over incoming).
Should we return to this version and make our updates?
Will they allow you to try for it again next year? I know that the school that we didnāt get off the waitlist, said we could try again next year even if enrolled there.
We are in the same boat. I asked about year 2 applying for it, and at her chosen school they said that itās rare for anyone to give up a CIC slot. Iāll probably still ask/apply when the time comes, though. At least with our FA we have a good idea of what the first two years will be, since we did an appeal based on 2023 1040s, and who knows, maybe what feels perfect today wonāt be a perfect fit in reality, but itās worth it to us to send her and find out.
I suggest just updating/verifying the shared workbook that is already out there. (There has been so much new information since the old version I would hate to loose that. )
As an update, D was accepted off the admissions waitlist to Pitt - her #1 choice - this week!!
I had to read the acceptance letter about three times to believe it. She will receive the tuition benefit since it is our home institution; weāve declined TE awards. It has been a very long process. Best to everyone on the forum who has helped support me through this journey.
Congrats to her!!!
That is wonderful! So happy for all of you!
I take it no one has seen much movement off the TE wait lists?
Question for TE veterans: Does anyone know if the parent who is listed on the FAFSA (for divorced/unmarried parents) has to be the same parent through whom the TE benefit is available? Or does it not matter?
Does not matter.
Edited to add: Iām going to pm you, since I can speak to how it works for our mutual employer, specifically.
Hello all! I wish I would have known about this forum a year ago as I managed the process on my own. Good news (ha) is that I am about to embark on it all again with kid #2. My experience:
We cast a wide net (applied at 19 TE exchange schools plus a few other)
Received 7 TE offers (updated the spreadsheet)
We were/are waitlisted at his first choice (DePaul). We did multiple āexpressions of interestā including 2 visits and multiple emails
He will be going to St. Norbert in WI and is very happy/excited about it. They only have 3 spots/year. He was initially waitlisted before accepting the TE spot.
We turned down the other spots along the way as he decided against them, in hopes that another family would get the good news.
