Just heard back from Pitt (his #1) and Tuition Exchange is a no. He’s heartbroken. It was his absolute #1. Wishing you all luck.

Longtime follower on these TE threads and first-time poster. My daughter also received a no from PITT just now. Turns out we missed the Dec 1 deadline. Now I am worried that we may have missed other deadlines. What a process! Hang in there, and sending good thoughts to your son and family.

My son also got no on TE from Pitt. Tough competition this year (as always…)!

If it’s any consolation, my kid was admitted on 10/2 and it was still a no. I suppose they all end up where they’re supposed to, right? Again - hugs and luck to all!

I just joined. Longtime reader though. My daughter got a no from Butler today. Also no wait listing:( She applied in September and got the highest range of their merit scholarships right away. The waiting is brutal! At least they told us in January.

Daughter received an email from Brandeis that they are now on the TE list and are extending their deadline. I don’t think her school allows late apps in terms of their transcript processing but will check. Howard is also new, but we found out in time, and it is one of her top choices. She applied to 13 schools for TE and 19 in all, with art portfolios for most. Exhausting but necessary since we need to compare offers for affordability. When my son went through the process almost a decade ago, Syracuse provided TE to everyone who was admitted and then the second year allowed stacking. Not anymore.

Totally new to this TE process, but my son is auditioning for BFAs, and won’t hear about full acceptances until March or so. I guess my question is that even though he has his applications in by deadline, will not being fully admitted until so late knock him out of TE consideration? Will the funds be given out by then already?
There are some excellent historical threads here that can provide some perspective. My understanding is that most TE is awarded in March/April with the regular decision admissions and financial aid packages. You can reach out to the TE liaison at the specific schools also with an inquiry about timing and portfolio admissions. I am hoping they consider the portfolio applications equally!

You can call most schools and they will tell you the TE timeline. So far, most I’ve talked to are late March/early April.

Got another no today from RIT but he did get a $30K/year presidential scholarship. Very proud of him, but wow, this TE thing is ROUGH!
Great news on the scholarship! I recall that some previous threads included a lot of merit offers that exceeded or matched TE (yours was pretty close), so I am hoping to see some action with something. If TE doesn’t work out, I am going to feel less locked into my current situation.

Yes very thankful. Drexel was the closest. They offered $40,875/year and TE is $44,000. Very grateful to have excellent options and still holding out hope tha Pitt may give some merit. (A gal can dream….)

Hi All,
I didn’t want to enter into parts of the spreadsheet that have the warning. However, Villanova is planning 3-4 awards this year and LMU 4 awards. If only we knew this info in the fall! So disappointing for these students to get in and then realize the chances of TE are quite low:(

Ugh. LMU is one my daughter’s top choices and full tuition! I agree that the strategy would have changed had we known.
I also heard from USD. Five spots (1 to a current student) and they have 381 apps. They take need into account, as the spreadsheet states. We need a new strategy:(

Wow, one really has to go into the TE thing with eyes open. Those are horrible stats!! 5/381 USD and 4/250 (Not sure about Villanova denominator but I know a couple of years ago they said over 200 applicants and it has probably gone up)
