Last year Pitt had over 650 applicants who met the criteria and gave 48. Better than some but still insanely difficult to get.
My daughter also got a no from Pitt. Congratulations to anyone who received TE from them.

I heard from RIT today that they had 295 applicants for 29 scholarships. Better odds, but still only 10%

And, they don’t do a waitlist, so of the 48 students given TE, only 17 of them enrolled, which means that the other 31 scholarships offered were just not used. Seems like not doing a waitlist is just a way to guarantee that they ultimately fund far fewer scholarships. Such a disappointment. (Especially tough for my son, who got a no but heard that a friend of his was given TE, but that friend is very likely to choose a different college.)

My son did not get TE for Juniata. He got several merit scholarships which add up to about 72% off their tuition but their TE was for full tuition. My husband called their financial aid office and they said he is on the wait list for it but is #18. Oh well. He is still waiting to hear from all of the other TE schools for admission (RD). He did get in to 3 top state schools, with some scholarships! (Binghamton, Geneseo, and Potsdam). So lots to celebrate regardless!

Any idea if applying EA gives a leg up on TE for RIT? Do you know if they were all given out already?
I think so. They said they had 249 applicants for 29 scholarships, so sure sounds like they’re all out. I believe they prioritize ED I and ED II over EA even!

My son got the TE offer from Loyola today. It had not been high on his list, but since he didn’t get it at Pitt and his two other top choices changed their award this year, it will move up. (Marquette changed from full tuition to set rate, and Syracuse changed from allowing you to stack awards to not allowing you to stack. We don’thave decisionsfrom either of them, but these changes make me skeptical.) If anyone in this thread has experience with Loyola, I’d be interested to hear your thoughts.

Ah, yes – Chicago! I knew there were several other Loyolas, but forgot that some of them are also in TE. He plans to major in Engineering, and Loyola-Chicago has a small number of Engineering specializations and an overall smaller program, but that could mean more personal mentoring. Still waiting on so many other factors to make the final decision.
Amazing! I think we looked there for my engineer. He wants to do Civil Engineering and I’m pretty sure they didn’t have that one. It’s a great school. A colleague of mine has a child there and they love it. It’s so nice to hear stories about people actually getting these awards!
Congratulations on the TE offer to Loyola Chicago! It’s a great school, as many people have been mentioning in a different thread recently.
Depending on the engineering specialty your son is interested in, it could be very important to attend an ABET-accredited school for the specialty. This is not my area of expertise, however, so I would definitely check out more informed opinions than mine. Below are two threads (one of which was mine!) that could be useful, as Loyola Chicago is ABET-accredited for general engineering.

Yes ABET is key for any program. I’ve heard that it doesn’t matter actually which undergrad you go to as long as the program is ABET accredited. (From engineers) Make sure you verify the specific program.

Congrats to you! So far we have a no from Pitt and RIT, waitlisted at Drexel, but merit came within $2K, and waiting on Stevens and Delaware (admitted but no word on TE), and Syracuse (waiting on admission and TE). Sending good vibes to all!

My older child received TE off the waitlist for Delaware a couple of years ago as an upperclassman. I believe the notification came in June

It’s a yes for TE at Gongaza! Anyone else visited or considered the institution? DD is social science major and interests. So far, very interested. Our visit is later this spring.
