Tulane EA and ED Admission Decisions - Class of 2021

Worse news than the tweet about waitlist, is the blog that was posted today (http://tuadmissionjeff.blogspot.com/) It seems basically to be saying that no more acceptances (apart from off of the waitlist) are forthcoming.

I think that the post doesn’t mean new acceptances won’t be released. Because the verbiage hints that decisions will be released this week, as many people are waiting for. Then, if you don’t hear back this week then rejection is imminent on April 1. That’s just how I interpreted that post at least… anyone feel the same?

@“800m In My Blood” I think I looked at the wrong blog post…there’s no mention of acceptances or rejections specific to Tulane; he’s simply sharing some anecdotes about the admissions process overall. Certainly anything can happen but I don’t read that as saying “everyone who hasn’t yet heard is rejected”. Just imho.

@kibbles scroll down to his March 26 post

Nothing from both of those posts suggests that all acceptances have been released already.

I guess we can each interpret it in our own way, but when he says that he “wanted to wait a few days for the dust to settle before posting”, and then talks about how “Tulane was very excited to send out thousands of letters of admission over the past few months, but we also had to send out three times as many letters to students who were not admitted,” it seems to me that the whole tenor of the posting is to the effect that the process is now over. This seems like the kind of piece that an admissions director would only post once all of the acceptances had been sent out.

His blog entries do sound like the process is over.
First write about wait list coming or this week, then talk about rejection. If they are still sending out acceptances, he should’ve waited to write in that tone.

@GMKoon Agreed. He posted that before at least one recent acceptance went out. Good luck with all schools everyone.

So, Tulane wrongfully admitted 130 ED candidates this year AFTER admitting too many students last year? NOICE! Then, a blog like this is written to console applicants before they are rejected and while they are waiting for a decision. WTF is wrong with the administration of this school?

I wrote to Jeff and he emailed me back saying that acceptances are still going out all the way to April 1. I thought it was in poor taste to post something like that, but he says that it was NOT ONLY for Tulane applicants. :-/

@PCJazz I actually thought the blog was thoughtful, empathetic and helpful to college applicants and parents. I don’t think there is anything wrong with the administration. Wrongfully admitting those 130 students was unfortunate and an acknowledged mistake by the admissions office but these things sometimes happen. Tulane won’t be the first or the last school to encounter admissions snafus. It is not fair to blame the whole administration of the school for that mistake or for the long drawn out admissons wait for a small number of remaining applicants. Most of the students have already received decisions. The bottom line is that Tulane has selective admissions with way more qualified applicants than they can possibly admit. And the problem 'here is due to the Common Application. When top students apply to 10 or 15 schools it makes it very difficult for these students to decide quickly when they receive several acceptances from equally good schools. The college admissions office therefore has difficulty predicting yield. Nothing is certain until May 1. This is why it has taken so long to release all the decisions. If there is doubt in the space available then more students will be waitlisted.

@“800m In My Blood” that blog is dated March 30th. Today is the 28th. Perhaps last year’s blog?

Would just like to add that no one of the 130 people mentioned earlier got a faulty acceptance letter. There was a miscommunication with tech and they received an email that said “Congrats on your admission” when they should have been excluded. Tulane either deferred them or offered them spring admissions. Neither of them really effect their admissions decisions now. I’m sure they planned to defer and deny them but ended up creating spring admit to make up for the mistake. Every college has drop outs and the spring admits will fill the holes they leave. Another theory: I’ve been seeing a lot of people (mostly moms) comment on how the long wait has caused their kids to lose interest. Maybe this is what Tulane intended. They wanted to soften the news of a rejection or waitlist. I know my rejection from a college didn’t really bother me when I got it because I realized I didn’t really want to go there. It seems to me (from what I read from Jeff) that Tulane’s admissions process is involved in the wellbeing of the students applying. I’m sure they have a method to their madness.

Wait so is it a definite no if we haven’t heard yet and was differed EA?

@mayamurray No it does not. Decisions are still being released until April 1st

@angelkitty247 oh great thanks. It seems like everyone in the previous posts are saying that there are no more acceptances being released.

Please post if you get a decision. The waiting is killing us. :((

PLEASE COME TODAY

This is killing me :frowning:

Anything?
