Tulane EA and ED Admission Decisions - Class of 2021

@TulaneBarry WHEN!!! My son has been deferred as an EA applicant since December and its now the end of March! Ridiculous amount of time to have to wait for a decision…

@Deltoro66 - with over 37,000 applications to read through, this becomes a long process that can become quite frusturating. We guarantee that all applicants will be given a decision by April 1 - just a few more days!

^^^ I’m in the same boat as her son. I don’t even want to go to Tulane anymore after this laborious process, just want to be able to cross it off my list. Kansas and still haven’t gotten a decision.

@Deltoro66 In like a day or two. If you can wait that long, you can wait a few more days.

@UofMorMSU Yes, our household can wait a couple of more days but the whole process of extended waiting period is awful. The Common App process really needs to be reexamined… Early action should mean something other than the “strongest” 10% of candidates are admitted and everyone gets tossed in with RD pool. Its not just Tulane that is guilty of this. And then to have to wait an additional 3 months plus to 4/1 when decisions and deposits are due 5/1 - creates unnecessary angst - stress, doubt, you name the emotion. Should be a national response date for ED, EA and RD. In light of the astronomical expense to attend college these days, universities need to expand their personnel so they can review applicants in a timelier fashion and give these kids an answer, one way or the other

And why was the blog dated March 30, when it was posted on March 28?

With the Internet age, I do think there should be a set date, as many other schools do. Then, the kids know they have to wait X-amount of time, and that’s they way it is. Yes, the time leading up to that day can be nerve-wracking, but at least everyone knows that is the day. This waiting and waiting, and hearing this and that from people who post, and then cryptic blog messages…makes it difficult. Pick a day, release everything, and then after that post all the blogs, helpful information, etc. Let’s say March 10 was the date. If Tulane was overwhelmed this year with applications, then they could have sent word that notifications, unfortunately, will be delayed until March 28, or whatever. It was different when my generation went to college. We only knew about other kids in our school/social circle who applied to the same schools as us, IF they happened to tell us.

I think the frustration is that most colleges notify all applicants on one designated day and dont notify sporadically. I think people just are confused and unsure if decisions are even still going out and are guessing when they will come and what the outcome may be based on the order. Too much uncertainty.

No offense @TulaneBarry, but my S has already been accepted into 3 highly selective schools (UMiami, SMU & USC) with as many or more applicants than Tulane. USC had over 100k applicants. It seems like Tulane admissions is having a lot of problems this year with the goof on ED and the drip, drip, drip admission procedures taking place. I would love for my S to go to Tulane, but he has forgotten about it now. Not even on his radar.

My daughter was deferred EA but today at 2:30 ET p.m. received an acceptance for January 2018. Several of her friends that also were deferred from her high school have yet to hear so I’m not sure that your advisor has much to do with when decisions are being released.

So I was waitlisted… pretty much means I’m screwed, right? 0 kids were admitted off the waitlist in the past 2 years.

Waitlisted lmao

I still don’t have a decision…does this mean that I’m rejected? I just want to know so that I can move on from Tulane

Still waiting in FL

LOL My kid was wait listed… Have anything to do with my rant earlier? Or just coincidence? Either way, proves my point - Why couldnt Tulane have just given us this “news” months ago and save us the grief?

Anyone from IL with an unchanged portal? I was deferred EA and have shown as much interest as I believe I could have. I pray that there are more acceptances to go out but I am loosing hope.

the fact that they had me wait since december only to find out i got waitlisted and now they expect me to wait another 2
months to see if i can even go??? so fed up.

Would anyone who has been waitlisted or accepted for January in this most recent round care to share their stats?
