Hi, my twin received an acceptance to Tulane on Thanksgiving with $20k in merit aid, but I have not received a letter yet. We have almost the exact same SAT scores and GPA’s. Since I didn’t receive my acceptance letter during this last wave, is it unlikely that I’ll get merit aid when I eventually (hopefully) do receive my acceptance letter in the next wave of acceptances? Have I not received my letter because the admissions maybe has not read my application yet or is it because of something else?
Well my letter came in the mail … Accepted EA for Finance w/ $32,000 a year and invited to the honors program … Not sure if I want to pursue the honors program though. I’ll give my spot up for your daughter @AlexDad2016
@eeb7777 I would assume it is because they have not read your appication yet! I wouldn’t worry about it… plenty of people do not get decisions until the very end… I get where you are coming from though, as yourtwin did already get in but honestly if your stats are fairly similar i would say not to worry about it! Congrats to your twin!!! May our decisions come soon!

Good common app essay
Mediocre ‘Why Tulane’ Essay
Good recommendations (1 counselor and 2 teachers)
Lots and lots of extracurriculars and work experience
Not a lot of community service
little to no demonstrated interest but only because I couldn’t find the time to visit NOLA
@2021Hopeful Did it say in your letter anything about finance? Because I listed finance as my intended major when I applied and I got a letter of acceptance but there wasn’t anything about what I would be studying in the letter.
@2021Hopeful congrats and thanks for the offer lol
@allison1225 thanks for the input!
@2021Hopeful I wrote my why Tulane about how much I love beignets, which in a way connected to my love for New Orleans because I spent my weekends visiting the city (I live about 30 mins away). It really didn’t have to do anything about the school, honestly, but I guess it showed my love for my culture.
@djamison255 Nope. I recall hearing how all freshman are applying for newman college or something like that and from there we pick our major
accepted on thanksgiving with 30k of merit and applied on the 15th
1450 and 3.85 uw
I wrote the why tulane essay in a rush to be honest but it all worked out!
Accepted on Thanksgiving as a Founders Scholar, applied on the 15th
SAT 1390, 3.7 weighted
Why Tulane I wrote in an hour.
It feels really good just to get one acceptance, very grateful but I don’t think I will end up attending
Should we expect more decisions to be released today?
I sure as heck hope so. Daughter applied ED on 10/29. No news yet.
@mom3boyz my son had a 3.6 GPA (school does not weight) and an ACT of 31. Competitive public HS in California.
Varsity athlete on nationally ranked team (he is not playing sports in college), lot’s of leadership and ECs on and off campus, held summer jobs, did a ZeeMee page, alumni interview, visited, was able to develop a relationship with AO- Tulane was his first choice (he applied ED) and he really did everything right to make it happen. He spent hours on the Why Tulane question…amazing how many people are saying they spent so little time on it and got thousands of dollars in merit aid! His part of the app was submitted 10/18, his school’s part was submitted later and application was marked complete on 11/1; he received the letter in the mail on 11/7 (I think they read his part earlier). He did not receive any merit aid, which is a bummer, but he is beyond happy which makes up for that!
Has anyone who applied after November 8th already heard back? Has anyone received deferrals or rejections? From what I read on this thread, one only knows of acceptances. Perhaps Tulane has no reason to defer or deny before the end date, but it makes me feel that my window is closing???
@sajeunesse . . . Did you apply on November 15th or October 15th? You are so lucky! Congrats!
I feel that it will be unlikely for my decisions to be released today because it’s right after the holiday, but I could be way off. Fingers crossed that more are released today! What do others think??
Given that many received acceptance emails on Thanksgiving day, I wouldn’t be surprised by anything.
Nothing in the mail today…Ugh
Nothing in mail for me either…crossing fingers for portal update tonight
