Tulane EA and ED Admission Decisions - Class of 2021

yeah someone should call and find out cause if I know nothing is going to be posted then I would actually do something besides refresh the portal all night

For everyone stressing about not having heard back yet the December 20th deadline is there for a reason. Just because someone you know or some of your peers have heard back does not necessarily mean anything negative regarding your own application!

@mimimo7890 most relatable post

@wralston579 the gibson email was sent out to anyone who applied so you should have received those details to login. I would recommend calling the financial aid office because they sent out those emails.

For submitting the Paul Tulane/DHS it would be in your applicant portal. On the homepage at the bottom there is a blue button that says “New Application” and it will lead you to a drop down menu to fill them out. They are due at 11:59 PT tonight though!

@fun1234 It’s due at 11:59pm PT tonight.

I wonder how many people apply to Tulane as “safety schools,” get accepted, and then don’t attend. Crazy to think somebody would pass up a Tulane admission… I guess maybe for an Ivy?

@element59 definitely no disadvantage as to when you applied EA…as long as it was in before the EA deadline.

its all about preference. There are awesome schools that could be considered better than tulane (although again, its preference) such as UVa, UNC, USC, UCLA, Michigan. Tulane is a fantastic school nontheless!

that are non-ivies I should say!

ok… mom here … i know that you all are stressed (and us parents are too! – we want you to get into your first choices/have options and OBVIOUSLY – we parents think you are brilliant and deserving !!!) – That being said – there are different things in motion this year with Tulane – the ED is a new thing and the school has done a lot of right that makes it a very desirable place-- that is ALL to the good — decisions will come – and i guess we all (students and parents ) need to take a deep breath – concentrate on what matters (finishing the year with good stats) ENJOYING this year - you are SENIORS!!! and also realize that you will have a LOT of options - i look thru this list and see so many eager and deserving people – you will all be fine … I am sure you have heard this 100 times…so take 5 and do something you love to relax and realize – it’s gonna all work out -hopefully at Tulane-- but if not – it’s still going to be awesome … i can pretty much promise that

How does the deferral process work? i haven’t been deferred to any schools yet but am expecting to be deferred by Tulane but I still believe I have a chance. I just don’t know lol. Wondering if it’s like an acceptance, and they update your app status, only it’s a deferral. Does anyone know?

Normally they just throw u in the general pool of applicants to be considered against a wider field. It should show up the same as an acceptance/rejection. Most of the time people who are deferred are qualified for the school, but the school believes there are more people like them who will apply and so would like to retain the chance to compare them. From previous comments in this thread it seems like TU accepts students who were deferred and even sometimes gives them scholarships.

@lourveamerican Did you ever submit the DHS? I am thinking you still haven’t heard anything.

@fun1234 I didn’t submit DHS. Still haven’t heard. I am nervous that I’ll be deferred because my test scores are so high above Tulane’s average…but the thing is I would have applied ED if my parents let me…

Hi! I submitted my application for Tulane in November but never realized I had to make an CSS profile along with it, I am registering for the CSS profile tomorrow and sending it to the admissions office but I was wondering does sending it later affect my chances of getting in?

Is it only neccisary to submit the CSS profile if you’re applying for non-merit fincancial aid?

So, I just submitted my PTA essays. In my time zone (ET), it says I submitted them 12/6, but they aren’t due until 12/5 11:59 PT, which is 12/6 2:59am our time here. Am I fine for the deadline? Even if it says I submitted 12/6 in my time zone? It’s making me freak out a bit!

@TulaneBarry @TulaneMaddie22 I also have the same question!^ submitted at 12:00am my time (central, 12/6), which is 10pm pacific time (12/5). Am I good do the 12/5 deadline? Should I email to ask?

@lourveamerican Were you in the top 5% of your class and 33 or above or 1500 or above SAT. Were you eligible to apply for the Deans Honor Scholarship? My son figures it was a slim chance to win it, but hopefully by showing how committed he is too trying to get this they would possibly give him a chance even though his stats were high plus we did go visit this summer. Did you visit? How did you show interest? I don’t think they have ever admitted a person with a 36 ACT so I am hoping they will give him a chance especially because he is a boy scout and was heavily into community service. His eagle scout/hornaday project was about Bluebirds. Are you from Southern Maine area or up North? It does say at my son’s school that a few applied, but he isn’t sure who since it isn’t his immediate friends. I believe they had some kind of EA single choice last year and I noticed they still turned down high stat kids so I can see why your parents wanted you to have options. My son did have a lower sat score I am guessing maybe he should of only sent that though he thought they would like it better for the DHS, If your grades are not in the top 10% it seems people have a better chance. Someone from my son’s school got in with a 1970 and was not in the top10%.

I just talked to one of my good friends from Louisiana who has applied to Tulane. She told me that Louisiana residents get automatic admission to Tulane with a 3.5 gpa and a 28+ on ACT and 1300 SAT. Wish that was me… That would have taken a lot of stress out of this process!
