That’s weird how many were deferred!

ACT: 30
GPA: 4.0 UW 4.55 W
Rank: 1/230

Common app and why Tulane essay were very strong.
I visited the campus and went to a regional presentation.

so 8 PM eastern is final decisions? Applied 11/14 still havnt gotten my decision yet

deferred

Deferred
ACT: 27
GPA: 4.0 UW
EC: Captain/1st Singles Varsity Tennis, President Founder Environmental Club, Started popular teen journalism/career oriented website, lots of focused volunteering, journalism/writing jobs, editor of newspaper, etc…
Essays: Common app essay strong, Why Tulane and Optional EC essay very strong connecting to activities at Tulane and an experience I had in NOLA
Other Notes: Transparency in understanding how our applications are reviewed is great, yet transparency in understanding what your decision is based on when you receive it is not. Now, that’s not to say that there weren’t some who were deferred or denied early on, however, in my opinion, it’s not right to release EA and ED decisions on a rolling basis. After almost a dozen of my peers received their admission within 3 weeks or less of submission, I was left with the (correct) conclusion that I was either deferred or denied.

@noochilised Where did you see your decision? Did you get an email or just a portal update?

No email just the portal update

Okay thanks @noochilised

Deferred

Got an email to check portal yesterday.

Was Deferred.

3.8 UW with most rigorous course load, 31/33 Superscore (Tulane does not Superscore as far as I know). Tons of leadership, very interesting volunteer position, captain of teams. Essays were excellent including optional one. Did turn in my application at 2AM on November 16, I think that may have been an issue.

Will be withdrawing as I got into my reach school ED (which was a surprise) as well as a couple of others with merit money. Tulane was my only deferral or rejection and honestly I thought I might qualify for merit so the deferral was a surprise. I say this not to brag but to let everyone know who is waiting on other schools or taking their deferral as a sign of something that they should not read into this as a judgement on their application as a whole, it is not. Good Luck to everyone. If you are still interested in Tulane, definitely let your AO know and keep sending them updates between now and the end of January

Does anyone know what’s going on for international students?? I applied as an American student ( since I am) but it’s almost 8am on the 21st now in the country I’m in and I still haven’t heard back from Tulane! Has anyone else not yet received a response???

i know that they try to protect yield by not admitting overqualified students but at the same time I really love Tulane, I visited twice and demonstrated a lot of interest. I have a 1500/1600 sat and 4.0 gpa and i was kind of counting on the merit that tulane gives, oh well hopefully will b accepted regular

Sorry I forgot to say, I applied EA, so the deadline was supposed to be the 20th. I know it still is in New Orleans, but it’s like 10 pm or something!

Also- where on the portal are we supposed to see the decision? Several people have mentioned that it’s there-but I can’t find it! Is it under the financial aid services section? Because i haven’t ever had access to them!

@getmein134 just curious because you put your race, do you believe that was a factor in the decision?

Wow! Looking at everybody’s stats I am not sure what they are looking for in an applicant! You are all so amazing and I am sure a large amount of you all will get accepted in the end!

This may be a stupid question, but if deferred EA, is there ANY chance of getting one of the scholarships applied for? Dean’s or Paul Tulane?
30 ACT
Rank 9th/347 students
4.39 GPA weighted

@Elisabethking32 - yes, you are still eligible for PTA, DHS and merit $$ with a deferral.

Just to answer some questions I saw there were applicants denied EA and ED, not everyone was deferred. If you think you applied EA but have not heard a decision yet, it is likely all of your materials were not received by the deadline so your app was pushed back to RD. Check with your counselor to confirm!
