Honestly surprised he was even waitlisted though I have no doubt he would succeed at Tulane. Seems like a huge waitlist. Money could be a factor.

Accepted Trinity, Conn College, Union, Muhlenberg ( all with huge aid and merit) and Umass Amherst.

Waitlisted Babson (not a fit), BC, Bates, Holy Cross, Lafayette and now Tulane.

Accepted a spot on WL. You never know.

For those waitlisted…in recent years, Tulane has taken few off of the waitlist. They have been able to build the majority of the classes through ED and EA and then round them out with a small RD group. However, with circumstances being as uncertain as they currently are, I imagine Tulane (as well as most schools) will be forced to utilize the waitlist to a greater degree.

So if you are still interested, send a LOCI and reaffirm your interest. If it is your first choice and will attend if admitted (be honest about this) let them know. If not, don’t forget to deny the waitlist spot.

D was Wait listed. She is in very good company it seems!

35 ACT and 4.0 UW. Musicals, tennis, school involvement, GS silver award…

We are in PA and at this point I will be grateful to have her closer to home.

Interesting that Jeff/admissions makes it quite clear that the Why Tulane essay is not actually optional, only to find that many kids with mid-range stats skip writing it and are accepted or waitlisted. Sounds like that essay is, in fact, optional.

Sorry if that sounded snarky. It was intended to be a reality check for the many RD applicants who were asking questions here that clearly could be found from official Tulane sources.

Like it or not, demonstrated interest is a signification factor in their admissions as Tulane wants to build its community with students who are genuinely excited to be a part of it…excited enough to do a bit of easy research. This approach seems to be effective, as it’s students are repeatedly ranked as among the happiest, most engaged, who love their college, etc… Jeff’s blog pretty much lays out what they are looking for in an application, Dos and Don’ts, and is a resource to see what life at Tulane is really like. So if an applicant isn’t familiar enough with Tulane admissions to use the Director of Admissions blog as a guide, they have likely put themselves at a disadvantage to those who have. That’s all I was saying. That may sting, but hopefully not as much as the many waitlists or rejections coming for RD applicants. Because if they did that research they would also know how unlikely RD acceptance has been in recent years. But this is not shaping up to be a normal admissions cycle, so maybe this year will be different.

Good luck to all who were accepted.

Did anyone even get in??? I haven’t seen any acceptances anywhere be it Reddit or here.

Even I was waitlisted
International needing aid
1440 SAT

I got in!

@pishicaca I can confirm your prediction about waitlist. I was rejected from Tulane RD, but I got into my top choice (Clemson) off of the waiting list just last week. My friend got off the waitlist for South Carolina yesterday. It does seem like schools are taking kids off of it, and EARLIER than usual this year too!

My admissions counselor told me that they won’t make any final decisions regarding the waitlist until after May 1st.

what is a LOCI?

I’m writing a LOCI since I really want to attend and I got waitlisted but who exactly would I send it to? Would I send it to my admissions counselor or somebody else?

Is it possible to go from waitlisted to accepted and still get a full tuition scholarship?

deferred from EA, now denied. Laissez les bons temps rouler somewhere else. Congrats to all admits. Enjoy!

Yes, the Letter of Continued Interest (LOCI) should be directed to your admissions counselor.

^^^ Sorry, @heartout, I replied directly to your post but it didn’t post that way for some reason. See post #114

@pishicaca thank you!

@waitinginfaith _ I really do not see that happening, if anything it would go the other way they will look to take kids who folks can afford it, the odds of getting a full ride are slim and the odds of getting one off the waitlist I would think are very very very slim.

I was accepted to the guaranteed transfer program

GPA: 3.8
SAT: 1250

  • a bit unsure about what the program is since I've only seen one other person post about it.

I would not expect much merit $ if accepted from the WL.
