She was very disappointed. Tulane was probably her top choice but She was accepted to two other top 40 schools EA with merit scholarship so it probably doesn’t make sense for her to ED2 to Tulane now. Congratulations to everyone who was accepted.

She had an interview she thought went really well, wrote a good Why Tulane essay, and applied for Paul Tulane Award… Congrats to all who were accepted!

My daughter received her acceptance today for EA on the Green Wave Portal. The email that came out a while ago stated that it would come out today after 3:30 pm on the portal and then letters would be coming later in December.

yes. ED II is binding

Thanks blondeboyNJ! Where is your friend applying to architecture? Has he/she been accepted anywhere?? Thanks for the encouragement and congrats to you!

Deferred
1430 superscore SAT
32 composite (33 superscore) ACT
White
Very competitive public school in Florida
3.92/4.0 UW GPA
Very good ECs
No interview
Meh Supplement

Accepted with high stats (36 ACT, 800 math Sat, 4.0/4.8) 28k distinction scholarship. I was worried about yield protection but a few things I think helped. I visited, interviewed, watched online seminars, wrote supplementals and probably my enthusiasm was apparent as I really wanted to go. In contrast, I was deferred from a similar school I didn’t visit and labored over a “Why this school” essay as in reality I applied there as a back up. So I think it’s a mix and of everything, demonstrated interest and an element of luck. For those missing out, there is probably a school that will work out for you as Tulane did for me. It’s just the stars aligning and not an exact science

Accepted
34 ACT
4.5 weighted
5 APs
White/catholic school
Captain of Varsity Dance Team
Very involved in political clubs/volunteering and academic teams
Visited twice, met with counselor at a local area college night, followed instagrams (no interview)
Accepted with founders scholarship and honors
Tulane is huge on demonstrated interest! I truly believe that and my “why Tulane” essay was my ticket

D deferred.

Stats were good

14 AP’s (4s and 5s) National AP Scholar
4/355 in competitive academic public high school

Unable to visit, Visited Tulane on the road

For those confused about why they were deferred, here is what the tour guide at Tulane told me on my first visit:
-The first thing they look is grades and act/sat. There is a certain threshold one must reach here to go on to the “next level” of admissions
-Next they look at ECs and volunteer work (which is huge considering they are the #1 school in the country for students volunteering)
-Then recommendations and essays
-Finally, DEMONSTRATED INTEREST (they have an algorithm here to calculate it)
After you pass each threshold, they do not consider that information into the next round. Therefore, the final factor in choosing who to defer or admit is demonstrated interest, regardless of whose grades were higher or who had more clubs. If you did not visit, open emails for a while, reach out to your counselor, or write the supplemental essay, you probably made it until this point.
I hope this helped!! If you were deferred, maybe schedule a visit if financially possible!
