Tulane University Class of 2024 EA

@collegechemistry, my DD was deferred in the EA round and has not heard back yet, and we are assuming this is bad news. She emailed her admission counselor several weeks ago and he hinted that decisions would come in mid-March instead of April, so my guess is that we’ll get news this week.

@collegechemistry don’t think like that. I’m sure people who were deferred EA but accepted earlier than most others in RD pool are high stat applicants who didn’t show a lot of initial interest. They are rolling admissions, if you haven’t heard back there is no need to worry.

I had assumed myself to have been a high stat person deferred due to lack of demonstrated interest as well (1590 SAT, perfect GPA, top of class) I tried to demonstrate my interest by writing optional essay and having an interview, but I guess it didn’t come across.

Tulane has been my top choice since the fall, and it’s disheartening they would assume I wouldn’t want to attend. Hopefully by showing my continued interest it will come across that I really would love to attend. Thank you for your comments!

If it’s rolling, then I would also guess it depends on which region you’re in, since they have different admissions staff for different regions. Good luck to all who are still waiting, hopefully we will get our results soon.

@collegechemistry . With stats like those the only reason you wouldn’t be accepted is because they are assuming it’s a safety school for you. You will hear shortly and I’m certain it will bring good news. I, on the other hand, am unsure, I have demonstrated a lot of interest and showed them Tulane is my top choice. But I have a 3.5 (trending 3.7-.8 Junior year and this year) and 1390. We shall see. Time will tell for all of us, but don’t panic.

It sounds like you have a lot of what Tulane is looking for—upward trending grades, above average test scores. I would certainly think you should be an exceptional candidate, and (assuming you applied early) it’s a great sign to have been deferred rather than rejected. Hope to see you on campus this fall!

I hope they’ll understand some of us really shouldn’t be visiting the campus right now, myself included - our school’s on lockdown because some students were exposed to corona. Even if most of us don’t have symptoms, it’s probably best not to visit the campus at this point. Although I would have enjoyed visiting New Orleans, it’s not worth putting people at risk for this disease.

@collegechemistry as my admissions counselor at Tulane told me, visiting campus is a great way to show interest and learn the most about Tulane — but they understand not everyone can do that and can be shown interest in multiple other ways.

keep emailing your Tulane admisssion person

@Tuitionsaver no point in doing now. Decisions will be anyday so emailing them wouldn’t affect that all.

I’ve heard March 26. This seems on par with their “by the end of March” deadline

My admissions counselor told me early march, but I saw somewhere that it said March 23 at 3 pm.

@2024collegegrad Idk where you possibly would have seen that. There EA’s did come out on a thursday, maybe they stay with this trend idrk?

I saw it on a website that had the release dates for most RD schools. It seemed too specific to be made up considering it had the time.
