Why would an ED2 from the previous year signify a denial?
@kyrashaq – I looked back at last year’s thread, and it seems that immediately before EA decisions were released, the ED2 button disappeared (or deactivated?) for some applicants. There was a lot of speculation regarding this (e.g., if your ED2 button disappeared then you were going to get an offer, if not then deferred). Then the button came back for all. I doubt it will happen again this year. And I’m not sure that it meant anything last year anyway??
My daughter’s ED2 button was replaced with the message “If applicable, the option to switch to EDII will return here after EA decisions are finalized and released.” Im assuming everyone’s changed as they get ready to roll out EA notifications.
@mtmom3girls mine says that as well. Any idea as to what it means?
@beachgirl2189 I’m really not sure. They may have changed everyone’s portal to have the message because the decisions are going to be this week.
It probably means, you don’t need to switch to ED2 if you are admitted EA. So if you are not admitted EA they will put the button back to choose ED2. That’s how I interpret it.
Did everyone’s portal make this change?
My D’s portal has the above change. I think we’ll see decisions Thursday afternoon, but it would be interesting to know how soon decisions were released last year after students saw this portal change.
My button was there when I checked last night, also with the words “If applicable, the option to switch to EDII will return here after EA decisions are finalized and released.” Now there is only this sentence left. Does this mean a deferral or rejection? I am so nervous
I think message only means they fixed last year issue. Looks like everyone has this message.
Does Tulane reject applicants during EA or just defer?
I’m guessing the availability of willing interviewers. FWIW, my kid hasn’t been offered an interview. Her numbers are in the Ivy range, she’s in a racial minority, and we live in a major metropolitan area. One would think … On the other hand, we did a campus visit and met plenty of people in the process. I’m not making anything of it.
@Mamatodogs My interviewer told me they don’t overwhelm interviewers with too many people each year (he said he only gets about 5 a yr) and a lot of times if you get one could be a lottery if you’re in an area w a high amount of applicant.
also because of her stats, they could have decided she didn’t need one. Hopefully thats the case.
Good luck!!!
@Max1243. Historically there have been both rejections and deferrals for EA.
Well, they actually accept some too
DD also has high stats. We are worrying she will be deferred to push her for ED 2 Though she tried to show lots of interest p campus visit, local visit, communications. Didn’t have an interview though.
I have a 1500 SAT, 97.5/100 WPGA (that’s all my school reports), 6 APs/8 Honors, MUN Officer, Student Council Officer, Debate team Co Founder and Varsity Captain. What do you think my odds really are for EA? My interviewer was really nice and loved me/my stories, so I’m confident. My essay supplement was mediocre (but my common app was amazingly strong)
does anyone know what percent they rejected for last year’s ea?
My son’s button only shows EA and the scholarship he applied to, do you think it is a good sign that there is nothing about “if applicable…”…I know, totally second guessing as we will all know in a few days, but curious of anyone’s thoughts?
Did you click on “2020 Early Action” link to open his application?
