Tulane University Class of 2024 EA

Yes, it just shows the application checklist and when I click on the scholarship link it shows that he submitted that and the letters of rec were submitted as well.

Interesting! My daughter’s “if applicable” is still there. When her application is opened, the checklist is visible, and to the right of that there are two blue boxes, one for scholarships and one for Gibson online. Above the two blue boxes is the text about the EDII button. So far I haven’t heard of anyone who doesn’t have that text.

Does anyone know if the money packages come out right away with admission (if you get in?)

Based on past years, I think merit awards are provided with admission, but financial aid likely comes later.

Anyone know what time decisions come out tomorrow?

@maril555 my kid is in the same boat. Very high stats (35 ACT 4.0+ gpa) and we have the same concern re: deferral to see if he will convert to ED2 (which he can’t b/c of $$$). We visited, he went to 2 local info sessions, some contact with admissions counselor and applied for DHS, PT, and CSF. He really loved Tulane, but could not afford to apply ED or ED2 b/c we need to know the financial commitment.

@bellbelll decisions are set to come out at 3:30 CST tomorrow.

I am upset all day. Daughter was thinking to apply ED but everyone says merit is significantly lower for ED :frowning: The whole tactic is very unfair to kids.

4:30 eastern time

Speaking of being admitted to Tulane, Early Action letters will head out for most students in late December. Green Wave portals will be updated at 3:30 PM on December 19th. No need to keep checking the mailbox or portal until then. Hopefully, knowing exactly when you’ll hear back will reduce anxiety and stress a little bit.

Still anxious. It’s daughter’s #1, but we couldn’t do ED because financial aid matters.

My son is in the same boat. It is hard because we know the odds are higher if you apply ED, but without knowing what kind of aid he will get, he cannot have a binding commitment.

When I look on my friends FB feeds, their kids with similar stats are getting into great schools, but all via ED and no need for FA. Anyone who says the schools are need blind is fooling themself.

maril555, I agree with you. The ED process benefits the University. But, to be devil’s advocate, if your child is going to get a “merit scholarship” then her qualifications should get her in during the RD round.

If you qualify for straight out financial aid based upon need: the schools say that you should apply ED and that aid will be available to you. Hmmmm, not sure what to think about that. And of course, financial aid includes subsidized loans that will need to paid back.

Lastly, although the University benefits by having 30-40% of the Freshman class guaranteed and mostly paying full tuition: This can be a benefit for students like your daughter. The University can now parcel out it’s merit aid to the RD students.

I hope your daughter has lots of choices of where to attend next fall - - Tulane is a great school, but there are lots of other great schools out there too!

Good Luck!

Right, but also, if applying for Full scholarships - you need to apply ED or EA

I wish ED was abolished everywhere! We did not apply ED anywhere because we needed to see where DD might get merit aid. She’s a high-stats kid and we don’t qualify for FA but yet fall into that grey zone that makes college incredibly expensive. Let’s all hope we hear positive news in a couple hours!

Not to mention Tulane’s RD acceptance rate is 1-3%.

One more hour…

Ah, the gray zone. That’s us. We are civil servants, fairly high grades, which puts us out of range for getting much aid, but not wealthy enough to pay outright. Have a 529, too, but it’s not big enough. (Are they ever?) On our counselor’s advice, I still did a FAFSA and CSS, because “different schools look at things differently and you won’t know until you ask.” But our EFCs are nuts and we need some of that merit aid. Fortunately her stats are good and she was also “all state” in her biggest extracurricular. One can hope …

Did anyone receive the EA results already? I don’t even see a link that I can use to check status after I login to the application portal.

Thanks
