Tulane University Early Decision / Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

Someone reported my last message even though it was truthful. I’ll just say this - #1 party school in the nation with everything that comes along with that. What mother would want to send their kid to that environment?

You do realize that you are on a forum for people who are interested in attending Tulane, right?

To answer your question—yes, I do. I am a mother who is perfectly okay with my child going to Tulane, even if it is the #1 party school. She is passionate about becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon. While she is social and loves making friends, she is also focused, works very hard, and is dedicated to her future. I know her well and trust her to find a way to balance everything she loves while achieving success in life.

If you don’t feel the same way about your child and don’t trust them to balance academics and social life, I wouldn’t recommend choosing any of the top 25 party colleges on all of your ranking lists. It’s easy for unfocused students to lose track of their priorities. On the other hand, some may get the ‘party and freedom’ phase out of their system in the first couple of years and then refocus for the rest.

It wasn’t me that reported your last post but only because someone beat me to it. No, not truthful at all. Your implication that the campus is a coke fueled party on an “average weekend” couldn’t be more off base.

Who sends their kid to that environment? A parent who has confidence that they’ve raised their kid with the knowledge and ability to make good decisions.

Clearly you put a lot of weight on “rankings”, be it academic/prestige or something that rates it the #1 party school. Again, look as the underlying criteria that’s being used to rank a school. Publications come up with lists and rankings because it sells.

There’s ALWAYS something going on in NO which provides ample opportunity for students to get into trouble if they’re looking for it. Plenty of students likely spent more time than they should at the Boot or other off-campus hang out’s. For a student that wants to go away to college to just Party they’re going to find ample opportunity to do that at Tulane - and likely won’t make it past the first year. With an 85% 4 year graduation rate the students seem to do just fine balancing out the partying with the academic.

To be honest, I can’t help but feel that if Tulane offers your daughter admission with $25K–$30K in grants or scholarships, its ranking in publications, its reputation as a party school, or its skewed gender ratio, or anything else you have not yet thought of, will suddenly become a non-issue. Good luck!

Great reply! It’s NO that is a party city. Same has been said for UC Santa Barbara, Chico State, Florida State. My child will happily attend Tulane and not even be bothered by the “party scene”. Kids grow up in New Orleans and are FINE. EVERY DAY!!

I don’t want to get into a whole thing here but kids can take rural dry counties and turn them into party cities in their dorms in college. Kids party in college. Its part of the experience.

I did not report your last message. Here are my data points on Tulane. I have a 2024 Tulane graduate who had a 36 ACT and top grades, ECs, sports and everything. She was admitted during the non-binding EA process and was admitted to Wash U, U Penn, Williams, Pamona in ED. She chose Tulane over an Ivy League education, money was not a factor. I’m happy to report she now has her dream job and knows that Tulane prepared her well. Her four years at Tulane were nothing short of spectacular. For whatever reason, you seem skeptical of what Tulane has to offer.

Oh and I didn’t report your post either. Just catching up. I didn’t realize posts had been reported.

Tulane just posted on Social. ED2 decisions going out tomorrow 2/6 at 4CST.

This board is weirdly silent post ED2 release. Has anyone heard any info or statistics? My D briefly considered ED2 but eventually chose against it.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Almost 24 hours after ED2 results dropped and not a single peep.

Best of luck to your D in RD!

Thank you!

Does anyone know when the academic year 2025-26 will start and by when do the Freshmen need to arrive at the campus? Where can we find this information? Thank you!

It’s not finalized on Tulane’s website yet, so it’s in the future calendars section. Proposed Future Calendars | Tulane University - Office of the University Registrar

Do students move in about a week before classes begin? Is that also when they register for fall classes?

Freshmen will move in a week before (date will probably be 8/11) but applicants should look for information about the Hullabaloo Hello - freshman orientation. Orientation | Tulane First Year Experience

I don’t recall 100% but seem to remember that S23 had the opportunity to meet with their advisor and register for classes prior to orientation. There will be a list of things the student will need to complete in the Portal over the summer (webinars for student code of conduct, roommate matching, etc etc).

After Freshman year they will move in a day or two before classes begin.

Above assumes the student doesn’t participate in extracurricular activities that require them to be on campus earlier (Football, Marching Band, etc).

Two years ago when my D was a freshman, she met with her advisor via zoom at the beginning of June and they selected courses together. I’m fairly certain the process is still the same.

So many of my friends got in but are considering canceling because Tulane is so much more expensive than other similar schools. 30-50% more in some cases.
