That lettuce keeper- wow.
I don’t think I’ve bought a head of iceberg in ten years (I’m a frugal food shopper but a bit of a vegetable snob since we don’t eat a lot of meat) but that green bowl can keep ANYTHING fresh!

I had to go to the hospital yesterday for testing. There was a full Tupperware display in the lobby and they had someone taking orders. Who knew I could get a CT scan and a cupcake holder in the same place?
The Tupperware piece that I’ve always wanted to find was one of those oval-shaped drink pitchers. I used to have one but it disappeared. I loved how it fit so nicely in the fridge!
(Obvs I didn’t want a new one that bad, or I’d have found it online by now
)
Are Tupperwares sold on Amazon as good as the old stuff?
I had one of those…and mine disappeared also. It was such a nice size.
Good question. I will say, my Tupperware from the 70’s and 80’s is still in great shape. I’m not sure how the newer ones compare. But being able to get this stuff without attending a house party would be a win in my book!
I had the lettuce keeper also, but got rid of it in my move 2 summers ago. Same as you, I haven’t bought iceberg lettuce in I don’t know when.
Wow!
I think our sippy cups ended up being used for paint water!
My husband still uses the cereal container for his Cheerios. It has to be at least 40 years old, but most likely well before we got married.
I have the lettuce crisper (love it for any type of green), hamburger press (used to use it all the time when we ate hamburger), pizza saver, a few rock-n-serves, a full set of Fridgesmarts, microwave steamer/cooker, rice cooker, shaker, two 12” pie-takers, marinator, midgets, and probably more. I got most of these for hosting parties for my friends who sold Tupperware back in the day.
The marinator gets the most use but rarely for marinating, mostly for storing/taking baked goods. I “lost” it once to a church function. It had my name on the bottom, but no one returned it. I was absolutely frantic to find another one (pre-online shopping). My dad’s wife just gave me hers because she never used it(!). I guard that thing like jewelry.
I store paint in the midgets for touching up walls and baseboards. I keep a small paintbrush with them in a kitchen cupboard for easy touchups around the house.
It’s funny Im realizing that as some people describe an item (like the oval steamer/cooker above) that I think I had/have something similar but in fact I’m not sure if what I have is Tupperware or Pampered Chef! Which is making me think that maybe Pampered Chef did some one-offs on products similar or to mimic Tupperware
I saw Dixie in the small stage next to the big theater. So much fun. She was wearing the cutest apron with strawberries on it. She told me the company who sold it, so I gave everyone an apron for hannukah/Xmas that year.
I have the green lettuce bowl too. My favorites are these yellow containers that can be pressed down, when not full.
I bought my son the $100 set, as he was in grad school. I have no idea if he still has any pieces.
There are lots of vendor/craft shows around on the weekends, especially this time of year leading up to the holidays. You may find someone selling Tupperware, or whatever company you’d like to buy from, at these shows. You could probably buy something cash and carry or order directly from the vendor without going to a party. Who has time for sales parties these days? But walking around a vendor show doing holiday shopping may be a more productive use of time.
I didn’t mean for that to reply to bookworm, I meant it for the whole thread. oops.
You can get an oval shaped Brita pitcher. Various sizes and can be used just with the lid (without the insert for the filter) for liquids that don’t need to be filtered.
Brita pitchers don’t seal well. If they tip over, the contents will spill.
Tupperware pitcher seals well. Spills just don’t happen unless someone is careless when putting the lid on.
I miss my Tupperware pitcher that fit in the fridge door nicely. I have no idea what happened to it!
Since this is College Confidential, I’ll share this factoid RE: Tupperware—
Bryant University was originally on the East Side of Providence, RI, where Brown University and RISD are located. There were limited prospects for expansion, so Bryant moved to suburban Smithfield, RI, where Dr. Earl Tupper donated about 300 acres for a new campus. Bryant University is now located on the Earl Tupper Campus. At one time there were a few Tupperware factories in RI.
I have that same strainer and use it several times a week. Pretty sure I had it before I got married or shortly after, so 42 years.
There is one of those yellow strainers that I’ll be pricing at my thrift shop on Monday. And a pie carrier (which can also hold cupcakes). I haven’t dug deeper into the pile, but I think there might be other Tupperware donations also.
And I changed the title to be accurate.
I have that exact same yellow strainer, also from ‘76!
I still use the measuring cups, still have the oval pitcher and some larger flat containers that only get used for holiday cookies these days. Before my wedding my friends threw me a Tupperware shower, so I had just about everything from that era. Must have acquired the sippy cups later. They are legend n our family because they were variegated colors and D1 had to have the yellow one. If it was dirty the light orange one would do, as long as she had the lightest color on the table.
