Turn it up to 11 - music you play loud

It occurred to me that there’s another category of music to be discussed: music that when you hear it, you automatically reach for the volume and turn it up as loud as you can. Or, in the immortal words of Nigel Tufnel in This is Spinal Tap, what do you turn up to 11?

One of my favorites to start: Cinnamon Girl by Neil Young.

I just can’t help myself … I turn it up every time, as directed.

Sweet Home Alabama.

Good Vibrations: the Beach Boys
especially when the Theremin kicks in, because that’s how we roll in So Cal.

As I just mentioned in the guitar riffs thread, Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith

Born to Run. And I roll down all the windows. Even in the middle of an Iowa Winter.

Kashmir (and, for this week, When the Levee Breaks)

I think my screen name gives it away. And lolou, sorry about those Iowa winters…

pour some sugar on me- Def leopard
have a nice day- bon jovi (or anything else they do)
:)

Lou Christie! (am I dating myself?)

Steve Miller Band, Bruce Springsteen, and Boston.

Most Springsteen, esp. Born to Run, Candy’s Room, thunder Road, Badlands, Promised Land (you can tell which my favorite Bruce albums are.)
Billy Idol-- Dancing with Myself
Modern Lovers – Roadrunner
U2, esp. Pride (In the Name of Love), Beautiful Day
Social Distortion - Story of My Life
Spearhead - Yell Fire, Say Hey
Mary Chapin Carpenter -Down at the Twist and Shout
B-52s - Love Shack

(sure I’m forgetting some obvious ones)

Grateful Dead - esp. Cold Rain and Snow and St. Stephen
Stones - esp. cut #6 on Sticky Fingers
Hendrix - all of Eelctric Ladyland
Sprinsgsteen - Born To Run

Head East – Never Been Any Reason
Golden Earring – Radar Love

I think that I’ll go listen to them now!

Anything by Earth, Wind & Fire!

Centerfield - John Fogarty
Usually the first window-down, volume-up of the spring ;)

Born to Run, Love Shack, Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For (the gospel version), Jupiter from Holst’s The Planets, Bohemian Rhapsody.

Roll down the windows and open up the roof!

MaggieMae-Rod Stewart
Hold on Loosely-Thirty Eight Special

What a great spring thread! Where do I begin? I’m big on songs with sing-along choruses.
You May Be Right - Billy Joel
The Load Out/Stay - Jackson Browne
I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight - Dylan
Franklin’s Tower, Rambling Rose, I Need a Miracle - Grateful Dead
Benny and the Jets - Elton John

Anything Led Zepplin
