Turn it up to 11 - music you play loud

“stress albums girls blasted in the dorms:” :)

I will Survive by Gloria Gaynor

The entire FASHION NUGGET cd by Cake
especially
“I Will Survive”
“Frank Sinatra”
“The Distance”

and Bobby Darin “Beyond the Sea”

“Roll down the window put down the top
Crank up the Beach Boys baby
Don’t let the music stop
We’re gonna ride it till we just can’t ride it no more”

let me add Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.” to my list

First and foremost
Anything from Quadrophenia

Zombie-Cranberries
Fire On High-ELO

When I wake up I’ll post more

“China Grove”
Anything by CCR, Eric Clapton, The Band

The Kinks - Lola
It’s Raining Men (I don’t actually know what version - it was an aerobics class staple.)
Anything by Apocalyptica, Sonata Arctica, Nightwish or The Rasmus (no point in listening to them quietly)
The last time I drove to New Hampshire- cranked up Johnny Cash (solo and the duets with June Carter Cash) kept me awake the whole way.

Callin Baton Rouge-- Garth Brooks
Country Girl (Shake it For Me)-- Luke Bryan
Summertime–Kenny Chesney

My DH,
Anything by the Who
Inna Goda Davita (sp??)
Benny and the Jets-Elton John
Anything by the Cars
The Wall, Pink Floyd

Me
Anything by the Cure
Tainted Love
Personal Jesus, Depeche Mode
Anything by U2
Smells Like Teen Spirit, Nirvana

Most any Lenny Kravitz - especially “Are You Gonna Go My Way”

I remember cranking up “Would I Lie To You” by Eurythmics and “You Spin Me Right Round” by Dead or Alive driving to/from school in the day…

…the other day a local station played “Born to Be Alive” by Patrick Hernandez, I turned it up so loud I almost blew out the speaker

Mizzbee-- “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” I think.

Excellent choice–should be listed on the guitar riffs thread, too.

And the drum solo thread, if there was one.

I have to agree with Garland’s Springsteen choices!! :)

Piano Man-Billy Joel
Your Song-Elton John
Maggie Mae-Rod Stewart
Bed of Roses-BonJovi

And for some reason I have always crank it up when F*** You by Cee Lo Green comes on!

Neil Young definitely did an 11 last night at his concert for most of his songs, especially Ohio and Cinnamon Girl.

Many of the rock classics mentioned here get turned up, also, Sugar Magnolia and Uncle John’s Band (Grateful Dead), and lately One Day by Matisyahu and Alors On Danse (I’m not sure why!)

My son heard the Alors on Danse on my Ipod and pulled up a youtube video about programming (we code, we code) It gets stuck in my head.

I would agree with many of the above songs, but my latest roll down the window and sing out loud was Bobby Sherman’s Little Woman! I became a 11 year old again for just a few moments, and boy was it fun! As a past member of the Bobby Sherman fan club, listening to songs from my past brings back some happy memories. Will anyone else admit to loving old Bubble Gum songs?

I just got a new car and it has XM radio, so I have been enjoying the 60’s station on the two road trips we have taken. Also enjoying the 70’s, classic rewind and classic vinyl as I am hearing song I have not head in years.

Kathyc were you at this concert? If so I’m insanely jealous.

Bubble Gum songs - a favorite is Sugar Sugar, by the Archies. And I had a huge crush on Bobby Sherman, until he was supplanted by David Cassidy.

This thread reminds me of this: [xkcd: Spinal Tap Amps](xkcd: Spinal Tap Amps)

DH pre-ordered The Cars new cd for me for Mom’s Day. What a guy. :)

Journey, guys, Journey. Wheel In the Sky, Don’t Stop Believin’, any of the Steve Perry stuff…turn it up and sing your lungs out!

Oh, and Abba.

I was thinking Journey. I love the story about the new lead singer.

I will definitely admit to a soft spot for 60’s bubblegum music. Bobby Sherman, Monkees, 1910 Fruitgum Company (Simon Says, 1-2-3 Red Light), Ohio Express-- Yummy Yummy Yummy, etc. Loved that stuff. By David Cassidy times, I was starting to grow out of it, though I faithfully watched the Partridge Family.
