Congrats to everyone else accepted!

Accepted!!
33 ACT
3.5 GPA UW
5 APs
Lots of extracurriculars

Accepted! No mention of merit. Does anyone know if can be picked as Richmond Scholar finalist without first receiving Presidential Scholarship? Did anyone receive Richmond Scholar finalist notification with acceptance?

1570 SAT, NMSF
perfect SAT2’s
4.0 UW
12 AP + Dual Enrollment (7 AP tests thus far, all 5’s)
State, regional, and national STEM recognition
Strong EC’s, including research and leadership
Background: OOS, URM, male
was not able to visit school

Not optimistic for merit aid at this point, but it was worth a shot. Richmond appears to be great school. Have heard positively from 2 state flagship schools (OOS) for merit aide thus far, so that is good. Competition so strong can’t win them all. Congratulations to all those accepted!

D Accepted, no merit.
35 act
3.9/4.5 gpa
decent other stuff

Website just says Richmond Scholar finalists notified by email by 2/1

DD deferred; ACT 33, 3.5/4.0 GPA, lots of work and volunteer hours, 25+ hours swim a week. DD only slightly disappointed. Her #1 accepted her, but we were waiting for scholarship awards. If this had scholarships it would have heavily intrigued her. Will likely not declare further interest.

DD accepted with Presidential Scholarship. I’m hesitant to write her stats because the process isn’t over yet.

For those of you who were hoping for merit, please know that the portal is a little confusing. When you first open the portal, it says, “Congratulations!” You need to scroll down a bit to “View your Admission Decision” right above the photos. When you click on that link, there is a letter from Gil Villanueva. That is the letter that has merit awards, in the second paragraph. My daughter missed reading this for a few hours and only saw it when she reread it! Hope this helps!

STEMFocus, I really can’t imagine that you didn’t get a scholarship with your qualifications.

Also, does anyone know how the Presidential Scholarship affects Financial Aid decisions? Can it replace the Self-Help (loan and work-study) portion?

For those who didn’t get it, don’t give up hope!

I know people sometimes don’t like to post if the kids have hooks but it’s super helpful to know that - URM, first gen, etc. Many schools use those “Presidential Scholarships” for kids with hooks. This could possibly explain some of the kids here with really high stats who didn’t get that scholarship.
