S accepted, no merit award. Similar stats as others have posted. I have only seen people mention presidential scholarship notification on this board. Is there hope that only Presidentials are awarded in the initial Richmond post and other scholarships come later?
S accepted EA with no merit to date.
Stats are as follows: 9 AP’s, 7 honors classes
ACT 34, NHS, AP scholar, WLNHS, seal of biliteracy in German
4 yr. varsity swimmer, competitive club swimmer, swim coach, violinist with certificates, other EC with volunteer focus. Are there other merit scholarships besides Presidential and Richmond Scholars?
Forgot to post GPA 3.8 UW, 4.5 W
Here’s info on merit scholarships.

Richmond Scholars and the Presidential are the big ones. There are a few others including music/theater/dance scholarships that require a separate application.
If anyone is ever looking for a school’s merit options, all you have to do it google “school name” and “merit scholarships”
@marlo5 I’m very surprised your son didn’t get a scholarship with those stats. Did you check his email? My D didn’t check her portal, but she got an email with her acceptance and scholarship info.
@fc123068cc there is a facebook group! just type in university of richmond in facebook groups tab and it’ll pop up university of richmond 2024

D was accepted! She applied EA, not ED, even though UR is her first choice. No merit money offered, but we’re still hopeful. Her stats:
34 ACT, 3.76 UW. Many honors/AP, dual enrollment at a small private high school and public arts conservatory. Other ec’s include Moot Court, fluent in French.

Yes, no merit
Seems not many from our area in NE got in — many deferred. Of those who are getting in, were you the “one” in your school or were there several EAs in addition to you? Making us more nervous about ED II chances.
they don’t notify richmond scholar finalists with the acceptance. they’ll send emails on 2/1
they have oliver hill scholars (it has an emphasis on leadership)
It says they are awaiting my Statement of Registration Status form for my FA form. Is this required?
@mickimchi Yes, it’s a required form that we found on Richmond’s website. Basically, you have to state that if you are male & 18, you have registered for the selective service (this is required for any financial aid). If you aren’t required to register, there are boxes you can check (e.g. I’m not yet 18; I’m female; I’m not a US citizen; etc.). We filled it out & emailed it back to the UR FA office.
@mickimchi Here is the link to the form: https://financialaid.richmond.edu/bwselserv.pdf
My son was accepted EA with a 1510 SAT, top 5%, and 4.56 GPA Weighted, 4.00 Unweighted.
We saw the merit scholarship grid and info on the website, but it doesn’t specify when you are notified. He did NOT receive any merit. Does this mean he isn’t getting one of the awards that some people were notified of already from this EA round?
Thanks and congrats to everyone that got in!
@collegemomjam there is an admissions blog entry from 2017 or 2018 regarding Richmond scholars that is informative. From that entry, I understood that applicants are notified upon acceptance about presidential scholarships but Richmond scholar semi finalists are notified after acceptance (by Feb 1). Hope this info helps.
I already posted that earlier in this thread. Richmond Scholars notified by email by 2/1. I think it was just two pages ago. I don’t have a child applying this cycle but one who is interested in Richmond for next year so I’ve been paying attention. If you have questions about what merit is offered and when those answers are released, it’s always best to look at the school’s website.
