UB Musical Theater Major

This question is really for the University of Buffalo, but I can’t find a thread specifically for that.

My daughter is currently considering several school for a BFA in Music Theater. On her list are places like Michigan, Baldwin Wallace (#1 on the list right now), Carnegie Mellon, and Point Park. We live about an hour from UB, and despite their apparent attempts to keep it a secret, we recently discovered that they have a BFA program in MT.

Several questions:

Why have we literally never heard a word about this program? It obviously raises some eyebrows and makes you question whether or not the quality is there. The faculty is tiny, and the voice prof is brand new, directly out of the high school ranks. The facilities were among the best we’ve seen. To be totally honest, they actually rivaled Michigan’s. Probably slightly better-although markedly different from-Baldwin Wallace. And they blew Otterbein out of the water. What gives? How can a program have such high quality, professional level facilities and not show up on a single list of “quality” programs?

Anybody have any insight at all regarding this program? Can you make the appropriate-and required-business connections through this program? Are they really capable of developing serious talent?

And again…why isn’t anybody talking about them???

TIA!
