UC Berkeley 2016 Transfer Thread

Two months and twenty days. This wait is torturous.

My mind says UCLA, but my heart says Berkeley.

That’s funny, @Cheolf

My mind says Berkeley, but my heart says UCLA.

Berkeley’s more prestigious…but I’m a SoCal kind of guy. I visited Cal and it just wasn’t for me (at all). I’m also not the kind of guy who could sit down and study all day. I need that LA social scene.

I have a quick question: what if I cannot enroll in a planned class because of time conflicts or limited space. We are in the quarter system and will begin to choose 2016 spring courses at the end of this month.

@omex666

Notify Berkeley as soon as your sure you can’t enroll but it’s your responsibility to get the classes you listed in your application and subsequent TAU…even if it means enrolling at an additional local community college or taking an online class elsewhere.

That said, it’s usually a non-issue and they will “recommend” you take an alternate course if it’s used towards your IGETC or 60 semester (90 quarter) unit minimum. The only time I’ve seen it have major consequences is if it’s a prerequisite towards a capped major. (Though it may have negative repercussions for non-capped majors as well.)

They’re notifying us March 17th and then rolling from there on!

Just in from a reliable source… Not comfiemed though actually. Help would be appreciated on verifying this

@uctransfer2016 What exactly are they notifying us of? Our admissions?

I hope that’s the case. I can’t seem to find anything though. They have had decisions out on March 17th in the past though, in 2012 and 2014…

That sounds like a targeted release day for freshmen decisions.

I’d peg this year’s target release date for transfers to be the Week of April 18th. Considering Cal Day will be on April 16th, I highly doubt it will be earlier than that as admissions does not have the personnel to handle the influx of inquiries should they release decisions prior to that day.

Based on the departmental events around campus though, it’s not unreasonable to infer that deliberations for some departments could conclude as early as March 30th though.

Berkeley’s official transfer decisions release date is April 29th. Do they tend to release their decisions prior to the official date?

Is it? Regardless of how early they actually finish they traditionally stick to their official date.

Yeah, they said they’d announce on April 29.

I’ll be going to a concert at the Greek that evening (Avette Brothers … woot), hoping for some good news to accompany the concert … Or else I might be kind of bitter about being on campus lol.

So I saw this is the ucadmitguide, here’s a link of where to find it: http://admitguide.com/

@uctransfer2016 I hope that’s the case, but who knows… I’m still expecting April 29th.

I thought they traditionally released decisions last.

I got an acceptance letter yesterday … from my CSU safety school :stuck_out_tongue: Sucks that Berkeley has to be so late.

Interesting in the admit guide link above. Everything I’ve seen pointed to April 29.

In related, but not really relevant news, Regents’ and Chancellor’s Scholarship notifications go out to freshman applicants today. Things are getting ramped up!

Yeah… transfers find out in april… it says it on our MAP

Yes, but regents and chancellors will find out March 17, good luck guys

@goldencub do you know how I can contact them to update my winter grades? I got a B in Calculus I, but I am sure I am going to get an A in Calculus II.

In order to determine who gets Regents’ and Chancellor’s scholarships, I figure they’d have to had finished the decisions process. And if they’re sending out the scholarship to freshmen this month, that means they’ve already finished the decisions for freshman. So I wonder why they wait until late March to release the rest of the freshmen decisions.
