UC Berkeley 2016 Transfer Thread

I had a 4.0 but I didn’t get any invitation… lol

I got the invite. I have an 3.7 GPA overall. The only leadership that I had on my applications were the positions that I held at an LGBTQ non-profit. Though I did not apply because I am not a CC student so I am not confident enough about my chances to dedicate time to applying for scholarships.

@SDGoldenBear That is extremely unfortunate. I don’t have plans to attend UCB for graduate school and my tuition is waved at public universities anyway, but that is not the direction that we need to be going.

do you know what it means by “ESKILLS 01+ READING AND COMPOSITION - ONE HALF” ?

@TransferGirl2016 My UC transfer GPA is only like 3.4 lol I think it’s based on what you might have mentioned in your essays or something. Plus now some people are mentioning that they had 4.0 and didn’t get it.

It’s probably based on volunteer/work/hardship stuff. However, it doesn’t really mean anything in terms of admittance. The alumni association thing is completely separate from the admissions office. From what I know, they send the apps to the almuni people and they have alumni volunteers that read our essays to see if we fit their criteria or whatevs

When all of you applied to the UCs, you should have filled in scholarship information: extracurricular interests, what major you are, interested in LGBT justice, et al.

What did you guys write about on your personal statement?
There might be a likelihood that those who wrote solid essays would get accepted rather than high GPA…

I had 0 interests/extra curriculars related to leadership or activism and essays that did not focus on leadership at all and hardship very little and I still got the email. Probably an element of randomness

I feel like a dead horse is getting beaten here…

@sugarbabies3 Poor horse :))

@sugarbabies3 That dead horse is probably just trying to figure out the scholarship algorithm lmao

I’MMMM SOOOOOOOOOOO NERVOUSSSSSS BERKELEY IS TOTALLY PLAYINGGGG MIND GAMES WITH US THIS YEARRRRRRRRRRRRR

@UFJbank

I wrote one about my experience holding positions that I spoke of before (LGBTQ+ Non-profit).

I wrote the second about my primary education experience. As a child, I read a few words slower per minute than what was considered “the standard” for early elementary schooler; however, I consistently received perfect scores in every other style of standardized testing, even in English. I was simultaneous receiving awards for being among the top of my class and listening to teachers tell my parents that I could be potentially disabled simply for reading twenty or so less words a minute than the standard. So, I wrote about how that affected me, the way that I look at people with disabilities, and the culture of the American education system in general.

How do I let the admissions office know if I’m dropping a class or not? I’m still not sure if I will drop my class but I just wanted to know their e-mail address for when I decide. Thank you so much!

@yna1995 I e-mailed them last month about a change in my schedule and they responded with: “Thank you for contacting UC Berkeley! Unfortunately, at this time in the application period we aren’t making any changes to the applications. However, please continue to check your student portal and email inbox for any possible updates.” I think they’re done reviewing at this point and are currently compiling a list of admits/rejects/waitlists, so whatever you tell them will likely be ignored.

I received an email from Berkeley admissions this morning asking for my unofficial AP test scores

@aepaige which email did you send the update to?

for unofficial AP scores? didn’t you report them when you submitted your application?

Does anybody get a request to provide proof of Summer Enrollment?

I just checked MAP berkeley portal and has a link to upload the material

it says:

To submit documents that we have requested, please select the document type below and upload a Word document, PDF, or scanned image file. If we have not requested that you submit documents to us, you may disregard this.

and on the drop down menu, it says:

Conditions not met: Proof of Summer Enrollment

@resonanx I also got the same drop down menu. I’m going to send them an email.

I also have the drop down menu. But i noticed it says, “If we have not requested that you submit documents to us, you may disregard this.” I didn’t get an email or any notification requesting I provide proof of summer enrollment, so I’m not going to do anything with it/leave it alone (unless someone here who contacts them says otherwise).
