UC Berkeley 2016 Transfer Thread

Got into UCLA & UCSD :smiley:

@kitkatt611 Congrats!

Yesterday, the admissions decisions shocked me. Today, BeyoncĆ© dropped a short film and an album. I’ve been sick all weekend. I’m in the middle of frantically researching and writing a peace treaty for the Korean War. Like I can’t take anything else this weekend. This has been great weekend. Don’t get me wrong. Yes, I’m sick, but I didn’t have plans anyway. Plus, I am far better at writing formal treaties than I ever imagined I would be. But I can’t take anymore of anything right now.

I’m not even anxious about Berkeley. I am happy that we won’t find out until Friday because I need a few days of calm. I have reached my limit. (:expressionless:

Now that I’m accepted to UCSD for CS, I highly doubt I’ll accept an offer from Cal (despite the low chances) considering the L&S GPA cap to declare. Anyone else in a similar position? Everything I’ve gleaned from other students suggests the 61 series is brutal–I just don’t want that kind of stress, despite being confident in my abilities.

Completely forgot about Berkeley after Friday lol. UCLA rejected me, which wasn’t a shock because of my low gpa, but it was still disappointing. Just expecting another rejection on Friday, but it will be nice to finally have closure and for this process to officially be over. It seemed to last forever but looking back, the time flew by! I guess it always seems to work out that way. :slight_smile:

I remember reading the 2014 and 2015 threads few months ago. Can’t believe it is our decision week already.

After being denied by UCLA I really don’t think I will get into cal now 8( I will have a really easy first year at my back up college though since I took care of a handful of junior level classes completing prerequisites and recommend courses for cal.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, hahahahahahahahahahahaha. 8-X

@goldencub Has finally cracked under the pressure, guys. \m/

@Cheolf Real anxiety is beginning to set in. 8-}

Not getting into UCLA has really upped my stress levels. Berkeley has a lower acceptance rate, but at the same time, Berkeley is entirely different from UCLA, and maybe they could be looking for students that UCLA could’ve decided to pass up.

We have one more week to go. There is still hope! Hang in there, guys!

I’m anxious about Friday but Game of Thrones starts tomorrow and I’m slightly more anxious for that plus I’m fried from all the college decisions that came out yesterday. #jonsnowlives

@yna1995
In general, People who get into UCLA have a pretty good shot at Berkeley.

@hazeldarling I too am extremely excited for Game of Thrones… I have been extremely anxious all year… I only applied to 1 school so I’m super scared… haha but at least GOT and the Warriors game tomorrow should take my mind off of it :slight_smile: I wish everyone luck!

@Cayton so are you saying that people who did not get into UCLA have a very slim chance of getting into Berkeley?

@yna1995
No. Just that getting into UCLA bodes well for most Berkeley applicants.

UCLA and Berkeley have often rejected students that got into one school and not the other. Some Berkeley applicants, as said earlier in this thread, were rejected from UCLA. Some who got into UCLA were rejected by Berkeley.

This thread is not as, for lack of a better word, lively as the thread for UCLA was. I’m guessing it will probably ramp up as Friday begins to approach. Best of luck to every one :slight_smile:

@Cayton I agree. I was actually hoping I would get into UCLA just so that I can kind of have more hope with getting into Berkeley. UCLA is an amazing school, but Berkeley has always been my dream.

It’ll suck if they reject me, but the worst thing they can do is say no, I guess.

@hazeldarling my R + L = J shirt was sent to the wrong post office and I won’t have it for game of thrones tomorrow. Not happy 8(

@microt I have looked at grade distribution for CS 61 A, 61C , 70 that are required to declare CS major under L&S, from that it seems that it is not ā€œbrutalā€ … it is quite possible if one works hard (about 57-62% of class manage to earn a grade B+ above for CS 61 A, and about 55% for cs 70… to earn a GPA of 3.3… I have taken CS 61 C equivalent so I didn’t check it out). We can also take CS 61 A during summer where it may be easier to earn a good grade.
I am also accepted to UCSD for CS but my dream school is Cal. Hope we all can get in.
