@selimpride Once you create your CalNet ID, new tasks will show up in “Future tasks”. One of them is the link to Cal Student Oreintation. You should be able to get more info and sign up via that link.
Same happens for me on the bConnected account guys ^^
@BladeX Same here, I’m an international student, out of state… applied to Mechanical engineering major with 3.982 GPA.
Work as peer coach and statics grader.
Dean’s list, scholarship from ME department…
Maybe our courses can’t be transferred…And our majors are competitive as well.
It’s just difficult for out of state and international students to get accepted, and I’m wondering how many students like us were accepted…just curious about it…
Where are you guys looking at classes and how many people are in them, etc? Is this in CalCentral?
@jonuni94 I’m not sure where they are looking, but a couple of days ago I came across http://www.berkeleytime.com which shows the courses at Cal, how many people are enrolled, average grades given, etc.
(accessible via schedule.berkeley.edu)
This has up-to-date information for courses and enrollment. Berkeley Time is pretty, but it seems to be missing courses from the schedule.
@goldencub When you go to the bconnected page on the top right there will be a quick links tab, select create an account and that will let you create an email… If youre getting an error message its likely youre trying to login into bconnected without having made a bconnected account yet…
Is Calso mandatory or optional? Cause its hella expensive. I loive close to berkeley but i don’t think i be going to Calso for that reason alone. Is that the only way we can register for classes. I thought we could just do it online…?
Right? Man I was super excited to go then they were like “that will be $200 please” -_-
@MikeSauce i read it was $300 and somthing close to $400
@MikeSauce This pops up when I do that: “You are not currently eligible for a CalMail account.” I’ll probably just email them. I need a BMail for the Facebook housing pages.
For what reason would we go to Calso???
Is that the onle way we could register to classes?
@melon12312 @screenname34 @emily2636 @ccAndronicus @BigPanda Guys I have the same issue like you guys… but I SIRed. I am an idiot…what should I do guys.
Stats is almost to the point of being capped because a lot of transfers in related majors take the upper division courses to supplement their career goals. Cal’s answer to this is by prioritizing enrollment to majors and requiring that 110 / 54 as a gate course.
You would need 110 / 54 in your first semester because without it you can’t declare the stats major which will mean you won’t be able to realistically enroll in any upper division stats course higher than 134. If this happens you are leaving yourself very vulnerable to not getting the needed major courses for Spring. The stats major electives are hard enough to finish in three semesters and limiting yourself to one or two semesters to complete them is shooting yourself in the foot.
IMHO, your best chance at double majoring is to take 134 or 110 over summer. Econ 100A/B is an option as well but they won’t be as helpful as the other two since you want 101A/B.
Thanks @goldencub looking over classes now. I see the one class @SDGoldenBear recommended (Econ 100A) with Kamala already has 204 enrolled, woah… I hope that seats are still available by CalSO day when we can register.
However, if you don’t go to CalSO, and visit a counselor before the first CalSO, do you get even more priority registration?
@caliguy925 Hi and thank you!! So first off, when you get accepted to Berkeley, you get accepted into your respective college-in our case, it’s College of Letters and Science. You have to complete a full semester at Berkeley BEFORE you declare your major and pick your emphasis. Originally, I was MCB and was planning to emphasize on Track 2: Medical Biology and Physiology. However, since I am accepted into the College of L&S and not the MCB major, and as a pre-med tracked student, I am deciding to switch to Integrative Biology, Track 2: Human Biology and Health Sciences. The main difference between the two, if it isn’t obvious already, is microbio vs macro-bio. As a premed AND a transfer student, I want to be efficient with my short 2 years at Berkeley. So, by switching to IB, I’ll essentially be studying for my MCATs as I take the required courses. However, that is just me and I have no idea if you’re even pre-med. Continually, I held down a 1 full-time job, gave 700 hours to a internship at a hospital in my area, and worked as a lab assistant at my CC. To successfully transfer to Berkeley, I finished all my pre-reqs, including the physics and ochem series. Get mostly A’s and you should be fine. I suggest writing a kickass personal statement about what you as an individual want to do in your future career and how Berkeley can help you achieve it. Show Berkeley that you have that fire inside you that you want to unearth at Berkeley.
Is our bMail account supposed to work after we SIR? I SIR’d on Friday night and I’m getting this message:
“This account cannot be accessed because we could not parse the login request. We are unable to process your request at this time, please try again later.”
@briank82 do you have kids? I heard that with children, you’re placed on higher priority. I’ve heard great things about the village, and everyone has been very helpful. I’m a part of the SPARR fb page; It’s A Ucb Student parent page. You should check it out.
