UC Berkeley 2016 Transfer Thread

In regard to my calnet, I have the option to make it on the calcentral dashboard; however when I proceed to try to create my calnet, the page says that I am “forbidden” from viewing the page. Did this happen to anyone?

@MikeSauce i got the same email too about the special welcome and i believe some other email about different events as well. I don’t really know what that’s all about…

^^ has it been 24 hours since you SIR’d?

I’ve had a bunch of problems but most sorted themselves out after a day or so. There’s a lot going on with the system, the weekend, things processing, etc.

Has anyone rencently signed up for Calso??? Cause i just tried to sign up and it says there’s no more dates available. What’s that about? Does that mean that its all filled up? But how can that be because Calso is mandatory and if u don’t go then u can’t register for classes. So how the hell can u register for classes if Calso is filled up and its not letting u sign up. That make no sense. So how r u supposed to register for classes

Is anyone else having a problem with logging into BearFacts?

@SDGoldenBear Cool, thank you for the link. I’ll look more into it. I just contacted Laura which is the Media Studies advisor. Seems real interesting so hopefully I can do Econ100A, Stat 20, a DeCal class and a Media Studies pre-req class first semester.

Just signed up for calso this morning @iccricri

I called the office of admissions and advising office for some information…

  1. You can drop classes this semester if it doesn't effect your major requirements, IGETC requirements, and the 60 transferable unit requirement. But my drop deadline has already passed.... :(
  2. There is no way around of registering fall classes and it is mandatory to attend CalSO to meet the adviser and register for classes.

Why do they need my high school transcripts??? I did not do so well in high school…also, is anyone going to the reception on saturday?

oh also, for calso are you guys going with parents?

@arashid142 They just want to make sure you graduated high school, I’m assuming.

You’ve already been accepted and as a transfer, what you did in high school really isn’t relevant. So if you did bad, it doesn’t matter, but you did in fact need to graduate, which I assume they are verifying.

@chaspion323 i get Calso is mandatory but it says there are no dates available anymore. So i do we sogn up if its all filled up?

@arashid142 im in the same boat. They requested my high school transcripts and i did hekka bad in high school. I don’t know why they need them considering that we’re transfer students. Im trippin thinking they may negatively affect us or rescind our admission cause we did so bad in high school? Like i don’t see why they would need them. And r u talking about the chancellors welcome reception? What will be going on for that event? As for calso, if im even able to sign up for it, i will go alone because they make u pay hella money for every guest u bring.

Does anybody know why they are requesting high school transcripts. We’re transfer students so i don’t understand why they need them. Could this negatively affect us if we did bad in high school???

@iccricri I called up admissions and asked-It is to see if we completed foreign language, make sure we graduated, and sometimes they use it for financial aid. Yeah true but I don’t wanna go alone so I might get my mom to come!

@briank82 Yeah, I called and that’s what they said! They said they will not look at high school grades. PHEW

@arashid142 What if I transferred in High School and only submit transcripts from the school I graduated from? Do they need transcripts from ALL high schools?

^^ he’s not going to know that. They just want to see your graduation date I think.

@chaspion323 @iccricri

Every single webpage and form for CalSO states that attendance is strongly recommend, but not required. Students will still be able to register and meet with counselors without attending. Where are we getting this claim that it is mandatory?

For the poor students living far away, do you intend on taking out the max loan of 5500? I have a EFC of 2 and I still need to take out loans.

@Philosoup I dunno if I want to take out a huge loan to move to Berkeley :frowning: I’m thinking I might take up UC Davis’ full ride offer
