UC Berkeley 2016 Transfer Thread

Any OOS transfers in here get VERY generous need based financial aid?

Has anyone recieved any offers from co-ops for summer period 2??

Hey guys! I currently have a 3.96.
I am taking two classes this spring and have a B in one class and a C in the other.
In the condition of admissions it says “a minimum term and overall 3.0 GPA”
does that mean this spring semester or just overall a 3.0?

@lupulin3 I believe most rooms are triples

@calbear2016fall Wouldn’t “term” be Spring 2016? And then “overall” is your overall GPA?

@calbear2016fall Both. Your overall gpa and your spring pa need to be above 3.0. Might be different if you only have 2 classes

Hey guys! Is anyone going to the June 13th orientation?

With that being said, I finally figured my housing for next year which is a relief!!! however, I haven’t even begun to think about my classes yet… What are you guys doing to prepare for orientation and selecting classes? I’m doing the “Prepare for L&S advising” thing which is on the CalCentral page… and looking at what my major needs… but other than that there’s no way to see what’s open and not right?

You can totally see what’s open. Just look at the online schedule of classes @tooweirdyo

Has anyone who isn’t going to CalSO contacted their major adviser? It both says that we should contact our major advisers for more information and wait for our major advisers to contact us in June depending on where you look. We will not receive our appointment times or complete the online orientation until late June so why would we need to contact an adviser before then?

@TheVisionary Will we be okay not attending CalSo in person? Will an online orientation be enough to do everything we need to do?

@tada77 So sorry to ask, but where exactly can I find that?

@TheVisionary We’re actually not even eligible to have advisor appointments before orientation, I had 2 phone appointments canceled before I found that out. I’ve talked to new student services and emailed advisors and even got one on the phone though, she didn’t know much about the online orientation so I think it’s through CalSO. At this point we just wait to be contacted. @Philosoup Yes, it will just be later. @tooweirdyo http://schedule.berkeley.edu

@tada77 That is what I thought.

@Philosoup You do not need to attend CalSO; however, there are certain majors in particular where it is strongly recommend. Impacted majors, for example.

Second Question: On the Housing Application, there is a box for “University Status” on the profile information page. It says that changes to the information on that page have to be corrected through Cal Central, but “University Status” is not anywhere in our profile information in Cal Central. At the moment, it simply says “Please Select”, which it does not allow students to do on the application itself.

Is the APP link still not showing for some people??

On the L&S online orientation why does it ask for three years of high school foreign language?? I thought it’s only two…Even to fulfill the IGETC it says only two years… I’m so confused :frowning:

@arashid142 3 years for high school if you want to fulfill a language requirement that way-2 for college courses

@tada77 but then how come in IGETC it only says two years??

I contacted my 2 major advisers but have yet to receive a reply! hopefully soon!

Hey,
How come the prepare for “L&S advising” is showing up under the overdue section of CalCentral? I already completed
the L&S Academic Program Plan.

Why do u need 2 years? I only needed to take one semester of foreign language to fulfill IGETC? Are we supposed to take more language?
