UC Berkeley 2016 Transfer Thread

I’m in TAP and I just got a “Reminder to Submit UC Application Updates” email.

In it said:

“UC Berkeley updates:
UCB has a new website this year: http://admissions.berkeley.edu/myapplicationportal
You should have already received an email from the UCB Admissions Office with information about your Username and Password for the MAP@Berkeley.edu site.”

I haven’t gotten an email with a Username and Password, but it sounds like nobody else in here has either, right?

An update from my above post.

I asked my TAP advisor about it and this was her response: “Berkeley has a new system this year. It’ll probably take a few more days or a week to work out the bugs.”

@Molisha You can’t use AP units for any of your major requirements, right? How are you only missing one of the two?

I think it would probably be better to take a lower-div american gov course with a similar course description as the Berkeley course (PoliSci 1). That would be ideal. If nothing is comparable, then take a lower-div history course comparable to one of the ones on the Berkeley site, and explain in your additional comments section that nothing is comparable to the PoliSci 1 - American Gov course.

Considering the American Gov course is actually in the major, that’s probably the best one to focus on - that should be your priority. If that doesn’t work out, then take a lower-div History course - but take something different from European history, so that you can keep your AP credits and get subject credit for the other History course.

I think you’ll lose out on your AP Gov units either way, because you’ll have to take PoliSci 1 at some point if you get in, and they won’t award you double credit.

Just received my email from UC Berkeley :slight_smile: Watch out for it.

Me too! :smiley:

Same.

“Transfer Decision Day is April 29, 2016.” Extended. Maybe due to a greater amount of applications?

That Friday is going to be agonizing.

The Haas supplemental essay: Describe how you envision your two years in the Haas Undergraduate Program. What impact do you hope to have on your peers?

For the General Education supplement, I’m doing IGETC but have 2 classes left to take that i’m doing this semester (Spring). I don’t have a grade for these classes yet, should I just put IP under grade for those classes? Or leave it blank?

Idk about the Gen Ed. supplement, but for the Engineering supplement it said to write down IP or PL if you didn’t have a grade for the course.

@goldencub

Thanks for the advice :slight_smile: Well I’m on a gap year right now, but I only can take one course otherwise I’ll go over the credit max. So imma just take one course online!

@boxandwhiskers The general education supplement has this at the top
Note: Use the following abbreviations in the “Grade” cell, if applicable.
IP= In Progress PL= Planned

Oh for some reason mine doesnt say that lol. Thanks!

So glad UCB doesn’t require transcripts until they’ve accepted an applicant.

I applied to Sonoma State as a backup and they want transcripts by 1/31 … even for in progress things and planned things. I have 7 schools on record, so that became a (n expensive) pain in the butt. I have one school I have nothing on my transcript for besides one in progress course … yep, have to send that in.

@briank82 ME TOO. I also asked SRJC to send my transcript to SSU like 2 months ago and they still didn’t receive it.

@briank82 is the Haas stuff out? I havent gotten an email @_@

@boxandwhiskers Shouldn’t you do PL, considering the Spring term hasn’t started yet? That’s what I did anyway :expressionless:

@mikesauce The Haas stuff is out, you should have gotten the email.
@boxandwhiskers @goldencub For the Spring term it says to put PL

@briank82 Oh, I really hope grad or law schools have Berkeley’s policy…

@Molisha I think you should take PoSci 1 online at some CC. That would be ideal in your situation IMO. Make sure it articulates if you do. Good luck.

@briank82 @MikeSauce JW, will you guys have the 7 course breadth completed?
