So I completed a symbolic logic course at my cc. However, even though this course shows up as transferable to UCLA (on Assist), it doesn’t show up as a transferable course to Berkeley. Should I mention this course in the pre-req section of MAP?
@JacobfromCA No. They will see your coursework. Berkeley hardly accepts that Logic course from any school - its being transferable to UCLA is irrelevant.
@screenname34 “So it would seem Berkeley feels English 1b and English 5 (granted only with igetc) must cover similar material, despite that not being stated on assist”
No. The two are significantly different classes.
IGETC overrides the need to complete any general ed requirements - so IGETC certification overrides the R&C requirement.
Breadth requires 1A and 1B, IGETC requires 1A and 5. On IGETC, I believe Eng. 1B can be used for credit in the Arts/Humanities section.
It’s pretty cut and dry. I’m not sure what you mean by saying that it isn’t always cut and dry.
Gotcha, when I did the MAP update (I’m not applying to letters and sciences) I was able to satisfy the reading and comprehension requirements of the college I’m applying to by entering in English 1A and either English 1b or English 5 which suggested to me that Berkeley viewed them as somewhat equivalent
Is anyone’s Biological Sciences box missing their information they had put in?? I’ve submitted the app and everything but every time I go back to the LS breadth page my biological sciences classes are not saved… So I wrote about it in the additional comments but I’m still worried… Anyone else having this problem?
I have consistently heard that only Freshman applicants are notified of Regents before the deadline (doing interviews and such), and that Transfer applicants are notified 1-2 weeks (I think?) after admissions decisions roll out. I dunno, though.
Ive read that transfers dont get notified until after they’ve been admitted and that there is no need to apply specifically for the scholarship since everyone who applies for admission is automatically considered.
I applied under Rhetoric (no prereqs) and the prereq form isn’t even on my page. I was under the impression that it only showed up for majors with prereqs?
