UC Berkeley 2016 Transfer Thread

I read @calbear2016fall 's comment from yesterday. That’s why I thought Regent’s was out.

"Has anyone who applied to UCLA or UCB, have you guys received a regents scholarship notification? Some of my friends have, and they have lower GPA’s then me! So I am just curious on how they made the selection!!

Thanks!!"

Is the MAP website down? It wont load for me? I just finished everything and am about to submit it

^^ Works for me just fine.

In other, unfortunate news … I was working on the essay and resumé page that Haas requires. Everything was filled out by the box for the essay which was empty. I could have sworn I clicked “save for later” and I was going to finish and add the essay a few hours later.

Well, a few hours later and that portion of the application is no longer available. Again, I could have sworn I clicked “save for later,” but I’m guessing it’s possible I clicked “submit.” I would have assumed there’d be some sort of “ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO SUBMIT?” prompt in case of accidents, obviously I didn’t.

Regardless my “application has been received and is currently under review.”

Any insight or advice on what to do? I’ve emailed my TAP advisor, but being that it’s Sunday and late in the evening and with the deadline less than 2 hours away, I’m not really sure what to do. Regardless, my TAU has been submitted without the essay and it there’s no way for me to submit it now.

If you click on their facebook link you can see that a lot of people are having the same problem. I can load MAP, but all the drop boxes to submit are now gone. Even though it says January 31st is the due date, there no option to submit anymore. There are quite a bit of people in the same boat. I cant find any link where it says due date January 31st 11:59 pm EST time.

Oh wow @CoreyL. Yeah, I’m in the same issue as all of them, so it must be some weird issue, i.e. maybe it’s on eastern standard time?

I KNEW I didn’t submit it … especially because it was still a minimized window like I left it, but it wouldn’t let me do anything.

I’m going to email the college I’m applying to with my essay just in case so it can be time stamped before midnight, but sh*t … I almost had a heart attack.

There’s absolutely no reason why it would be EST though, that has to be something they overlooked.

So… are we no longer required to input the general education/breadth information? I submitted my TAU a few days ago but now on my berkeley map it has no other requirement under forms other than the TAU!!! Help! Slightly panicking.

Hello, I am currently a CC student looking to transfer into EECS for Fall 2017 and had a few questions regarding admissions. From what I understand currently, the most important part in being competitive for EECS is completion of pre-reqs/recommended classes and GPA. How big of a role do ECs play for transfer students? Also as far as recommended courses go, the only class available to me at my (or any other college nearby) that is articulated is COMPSCI 61B. Will only having this completed and none of the others be a negative? I am going to try and complete as many other CS classes available to me as I can, but I’m not sure if this will be enough. I appreciate any input that can be given as well as any other information that may be helpful. Thanks!
Also, I am currently attending Orange Coast College in SoCal.

@afrogeisha Are you saying things that, in reality, you need to fill out items are now missing?

If so, it seems the whole system was incorrectly set to EST instead of PST. If you go to UC Berkeley Admission Facebook page, you’ll see dozens of students who have lost access to their applications or it says they were submitted on 2/01/2016 … likely because the system is 3 hours ahead.

I had 3 things initially under forms and when I came home tonight, just one was left … I hadn’t submitted anything yet.

If this is all true, they’ll have to resolve this by opening back up the system or something similar. I would say don’t worry about it too much as it is really widespread and will be well-documented come morning time.

@briank82 Okay sweet. Thank you!

Even if you clicked submit on the essay/resume you should still have been able to update it, I updated mine at least a dozen times. I would definitely call Haas directly to sort out the time issue.

@cberg97 Since EECS is very competitive at Cal you are going to need a very high GPA and completion of as many of the pre reqs as possible. I’ve heard that not having articulated courses is not held against you, but when your applying to EECCs and only a small percentage are admitted, it is likely to be those best prepared (prereqs). So try to get as many of those done as you can. The ones not articulated could possibly be done online at another college if there are really no nearby CCs that have those courses. But if you’re in OC there are alot of CCs in that area so look at the class schedules of each one. Extracurriculars again will be important because that is what will set you apart from the other applicants with the same GPA and Prereqs as you. Good luck!

I am not sure if my MAPS is correct because I never got to double check it. Is there anything I can do about this? I just want to see if its correct. When I click on the link it doesn’t list the courses it just says the deadline is over.

@TheVisionary I have no clue. I applied as a philosophy major which has pre-reqs.

They just posted on their FB page

“Transfer applicants: We are aware of the submission issues that occurred over the weekend. We are working on a solution and will let you know shortly.”

And now we wait!

Some of us, @goldencub. Some of us don’t have complete applications submitted! :stuck_out_tongue:

This was just posted to their FB:

*Hi all - Due to a system error, we are extending the deadline for transfer applicants to submit Supplemental Application Forms to February 3, 2016, at 11:59 p.m. (PST).

Please log in to MAP@Berkeley to access your forms. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Good luck and #GoBears!*

Great News !

There’s another technical problem with the forms
Under General education/breadth requirement, try checking anyone of the statements (2nd tab) confirm your option and come back to check/edit, you’ll observe that the checkmark under the 2nd tab is missing.

I already submitted my update a few weeks ago but checked right now to make sure everything is right since there has been issues with the update. I noticed that when I clicked “Edit” to check everything for General Education/Breadth, I noticed that it looked like I didn’t fill anything out for my Biological requirement. When I clicked the “I have completed a Biological Science lecture with a separate lab course” option, my info I submitted pops up. I have clicked it, saved, and updated it multiple times yet every time I click Edit to see if it saved, it still says I didn’t choose any options for the Biological Science area. What should I do? Anyone else experiencing this issue?

@sbccstudent19 Yes I had the same issue. When I submitted the MAP there was no option to fill out a class for the biological science section, which i found odd. I waited a few days and when there was still no option to fill out a biological science class, I wrote in the course in the additional comments section. They must have fixed that issue since then because when I checked today to see my MAP I noticed the biological science section (which was never there before) was now there, and it was blank. So I removed my additional comment and added in the info.
