yes @gavarno88 but also I am not sure if we will be reimbursed? but Im almost sure we won’t :,D my deposit was like 500 buck RIP Im already brokeee lol
I committed to Emory which is like the exact opposite of Berkeley LOL but I would love to go to Berkeley if I get in<3 Also can someone give me closure on my wait list essay. Later when I re-read it I realized I submitted it with some words missing at the end and idk how that will reflect on me like are my chances scrapped?? I need someone to tell me everything is gonna be alright :,D
either UW or RPI if I do not get into Berkeley
My kid just took action to turn down Berkeley’s offer of admission. He did this as soon as he made up his mind as a courtesy to Berkeley and to those waiting. Good luck guys.
@websensation to which college ur son was admitted. I hav also declined all offers that i m not going including LA and SD . Lets give the waiting ppl a chance … like we r waiting here
@USUG21 Our kid was admitted to two Honors Colleges with full ride and full cost scholarships, UCI, UCSD, UCLA (waitlisted), UC Berkeley and Stanford REA (very unexpected). Those were only colleges he applied to. He just was granted a deferred enrollment by Stanford to take a gap year. Stanford is very good about giving gap years. That’s another reason why he could not attend UCs because they rarely allow gap years.
@websensation very nice. All the best to u all. So he has opened a spot for someone this year in stan also.
@USUG21 The way someone explained to me, every top college accepts slightly more applicants than they need because they already can guess what percentage will refuse or defer enrollment, so it helps somewhat but not very much. I made sure Stanford said ok to our gap year request before turning down all others. I was surprised that Stanford only required $200 dollars deposit to “hold” a spot, not that our kid won’t be going there. He got no other college to go to now that he turned down all other colleges.
@Hardzworker Oh cool I just committed to Wisconsin a couple days ago. I also got into Minnesota
@blinkblink17 I was close to choosing UIUC. I had it narrowed down to UIUC and UW-Madison but ultimately chose Madison
I committed to UChicago. Don’t know what I’m going to do if I get admitted by UC Berkeley.
I’ve committed to UCSD
Can’t believe May 1st is almost here. My D committed to UCSD awaiting LA/B. In consideration to her other schools’ waitlist she declined at the same time. No regrets now! Hoping for the best but she’s also happy with UCSD.
Waitlisted as a psych major and sooo nervous for when those decisions come out. Though, even if I do get accepted I’m pretty sure there is no way I will be able to go b/c I’m an out of state-er and tuition is expensive af. Does UCB offer stuff like full tuition/scholarships/grants to out of state acceptances??
@stressedouteva not full tuition, and every book about college stated that limited grants and scholarships are usually not awarded to waitlisted students.
I know that UCLA has this thing where if waitlisted students get accepted after May 15th, there is no guarantee for housing. Does Cal have something similar to this too?
@lostinlife2021 From the waitlist Q&A:
Q: If I am admitted off the wait list, do I still receive the housing priority?
A: Yes, wait-listed admitted students will receive a housing offer, IF you complete the housing application by your Submit of Intent to Register (SIR) deadline and indicate “any room, any location” as one of your preferences. Housing priority can be jeopardized if you do not meet your individual SIR deadline. Please check MAP@Berkeley for more information.
So i’m assuming it is guaranteed
@stressedouteva I’m out-of-state as well and was wondering the same thing. Look into the Middle Class Access Plan and see if you qualify. Although it doesn’t cover the additional $28k fee OOS students have to pay, it does bring down base tuition and housing I believe.
Hey I heard a rumour from a friend that attended The “Berkeley Day for admitted students” that waitlist decisions would come out on May the 1st, does anyone know if it’s true?
@AlbionH It depends… Last year’s SIR date was May 2nd I think and that’s when the first acceptances came out for waitlisters; however, the people notified this early were in-state kids, mostly L&S. There were a few exceptions for engineering students. I feel like it is safe to assume that it will be similar this year, with notices starting to come out (in waves) on and after May 1st.
