Just got accepted L&S for spring, too. Are all waitlisted apps who were admitted admitted into a spring start?
accepted to l&s for january '18!!! super psyched but now i’m faced with a really tough decision: nyu vs berkeley : //
(for reference, I applied as a linguistics major, but made it pretty clear in essays I wanted to double major in linguistics and computer science)
edit: oos and my gpa was so lw i’m shook i got in off the waitlist i can’t believe it
@katiemiller I’m OOS and was admitted to L&S Political Science. I’m 90% sure I’ll turn down the offer because I’m really happy with USC at this stage. Going into this process, USC & UCB were my top choices (along with Northwestern, where I was rejected), so I feel really, really lucky. But by not accepting, I will open up a spot on the waitlist … hopefully for you!

Was waitlisted for L&S, majored in Political Science. Got accepted today and will be doing FPF. 4.13 weighted gpa, 1150 new SAT. Pretty average, but I’d say I’m a great writer and had lots of ec’s and work experience. Also talked to a friend’s mom who works in admissions and FPF won’t really set anyone back and is most recommended. You’re only doing fall 2017 there, which is mostly GE’s anyway. Good luck everyone! I got accepted into L&S majored in Public Health, however, will be doing January start. According to them, I have options, but I am happy with the January start, to be honest. Still thinking if I should choose fpf program though. My SAT is low, GPA is really high. I have a myriad of E.C and work experience. I can’t just say my essays are good; however, many people read my essays they seem to love it. I think the essays I wrote for the waitlist and for the original application what saved me. It pictured who I am as a person.
Anyway, the people who didn’t get accepted in this wave, please do not lose hope. There are upcoming waves, think positive. Keep yall head up, everyone. Good luck. <3

Does anyone know how I can tell if FPF is full or not so I know whether I would start in the fall or spring? If I start in January, I don’t know if I want to go all the way to Cali from Canada and be a whole semester late and have to try to find my way into friend circles.

Congratulations to everyone who got accepted!!! This is absolutely amazing. I got accepted into L&S for January, and I’m ecstatic about it!! I was accepted to all the other universities I applied to but was waitlisted to Berkeley. ((stats are 4.27 Cumulative Weighted GPA, 4.0 Cumulative Unweighted, and 1480 new SAT)) I was deciding between UCLA and UCB (if I got in–which I did!); they’re both amazing schools, but I was mainly concerned about proximity to my home. (Berkeley’s so much closer, and I don’t want to go as far as LA.) I will be doing FPF.
Does anyone know if we sign up for the same range of dates for orientation as those students who start in the fall? Also, does anyone have information on FPF? Today was actually my first time hearing of it, and I just decided that I wanted to start school early rather than later.
one last question, does anyone know how to rescind an SIR agreement to another school…? should I e-mail them?
I was admitted for neurobiology in L&S, and will be doing FPF-Berkeley

I was accepted to all of the schools I applied to, but I was waitlisted to Berkeley, so my final choices were between UCLA and UCB. They’re both amazing schools, but my main concern right now is proximity to where my home is, and LA’s just too far for my comfort.
