*****UC Berkeley 2021 Waitlist Thread*****

@CS2021
Global edge, fpf sf, fpf berkeley, but I think the latter is full.

@USUG21 I got in today (in state l&s cs), and had the 4 addresses thing a few days ago. Not sure if that glitch correlates with getting in though.

BTW does anyone know how to apply for housing? Also I submitted my deposit and the FPF thing didn’t pop up… anyone know how I can sign up for fpf?

Remember getting off the waitlist is a ripple effect. There is the deadline of commitment 5/1, which gave us the 1st wave. Then there are those who committed that are now getting off the waitlist at their dream school plus the 1st wave who didn’t commit. That’s why this waitlist deadline is June 1. Keep a bit of hope but be ready for wherever you’re committed to for now. Good luck everyone. Berkeley is keeping their commitment to increase instate students so far.

How can I create a calnet id?

Does anyone know how FPF and L&S CS work? I know that you need to complete CS61A, CS61B, and CS70 and maintain a 3.3 GPA. But if we do FPF, doesn’t that mean that we’ll be behind all the other intended cs majors? Does that affect our chances of declaring?

@johnlimster I just got into L&S CS too and im also worried that we would be behind if we did FPF.

@johnlimster @UC2021 I don’t want to discourage you guys but I had a really smart friend in your exact same situation. He barely managed to meet the GPA requirement, really close to declaring something else. His friend had to declare something else. He kind of discourages people to follow the same path. Just his two cents.

@johnlimster sorry, I am not clear why would FPF leave you behind? Am I missing something?

guys earlier in this thread I also remember that someone said that an admissions officer said that doing FPF can set back your gpa for majors such as cs but is OK for almost every other major

Just got in for L&S computer science! Congrats to everyone who was accepted today, and for those of you who weren’t, I’m sure you’ll thrive wherever you go!

Congrats! @l432480 read my post above though

Does anyone who got off waitlist include personal-statement-like essay? I think I miss to show my personality in the original application, so I think I’d better add it on my waitlist essay. But as the Q&A for waitlist and some people pointing out, I may want to talk more about my achievement and be as concise as possible. Any suggestion? (I am a CS transfer waitlisted student :slight_smile:

btw, Congrats to the new accepted!

@irvinefoodie most other fall admits will be taking CS61A in the fall, but those who are in FPF will have to start taking CS61A in the spring. Therefore, we are 1 semester behind all the other intended CS majors. The fall admits will have completed CS70 by the end of the 1st semester in sophomore year, while we will have completed CS70 by the end of our 2nd semester in sophomore year.

I’m not sure exactly if we will still be able to declare even with a 3.3 GPA. I’m going to ask them.

Guyss has any OOS gotten in today?

@Weilan I wrote about why Berkeley is the school for me, how I would contribute, how I would use its resources.

@johnlimster where did u originally sir’ed?

seems like this wave is only for IS applying to CS? anybody else accepted but not IS or not applying for CS?

@johnlimster if you take FPF you can still take all of the normal classes you would as a regular admit, even the CS ones I believe (during fall)
same goes for global edge esp bc for that you take classes at berkeley over summer

Has anyone who is waitlisted as a bio major heard back? I have only seen CS majors admitted off the waitlist so far.

@jliu30 FPF is just for the first year, so the next few years will all be regular fall classes.

Are people admitted off of the waitlist still meant to get the official thing in the mail? And do international students get it? I got off on the first wave and haven’t gotten any post, so I was just wondering.
